Castro #8 and Rizzo #18 on Law's top 25 Under 25 in the MLB

    8. Castro

    - Only way that he moves off short is if forced off by another player
    - Likely to hit around .300 with good doubles power, can grow into 20-homer power
    - Possible to add 15-20 walks/year

    18. Rizzo

    - Thinks 2013 will be ~ 25 HR's, high .200s BA along with great defense at 1st
    - Moderately patient
    - Struggled against lefties in the bigs; thinks he can make adjustments as he has proved in the past
    - High mental makeup; isn't Jay Cutler
Pretty sure the bullets are a summary of what he said, took this from a poster (Thed Hoyerstein) on NSBB.

Castro being so high up shows how overvalued he is by outsiders. He says it's possible for Castro to add another 15-20 walks. I say if some team has a talented corner outfielder then we try to trick them into taking him. He fell from 6 heading into 2012 to 8 heading into 2013. Stock is already plummeting.

Both of these guys seem like they should be anchors for a significant period of time here, especially Castro. I wish I had more of the names on the list.

A little more context...Castro is one behind Manny Machado, who takes the 7 spot.

    1-6 is some order of:

    Trout
    Harper
    Heyward
    Stanton
    Strasburg
    Kershaw

MAYBE. I'm not 100% on that.

Law’s top five were Mike Trout (Angels), Bryce Harper (Nationals), Jason Heyward (Braves), Giancarlo Stanton (Marlins) and Stephen Strasburg (Nationals).
That top 5 is ridiculously good.

Edit: Opps, a minute late. I'd have Kerhshaw and Stanton ahead of Heyward myself

Why would he put Machado in front of Castro?

    Tidbits:

“If Castro barely improves from here, he’s still a valuable big leaguer because he can handle short and is likely to hit at least .300 with plenty of doubles power. I think he’ll grow into 20-homer power in time.”
“A full season for Rizzo in 2013 should see him hit close to 25 homers with an average in the high .200s along with that great defense at first. … Given his age and the speed with which he has made adjustments, I like his odds of figuring out southpaws.”

Castro will be perpetually "underrated" until bam wham shazam the world catches on and he's "overrated."

I put it in quotes because I think I just mean attention wise...Most of what I hear the average person say about Castro is that he can hit for average but doesn't walk or hit for enough power. The walks always seem to come up.

#8 seemed low to me for a split second, but reading that list...yeah. Machado is the only one above him you could argue against at all.

I can't tell you the number of Cardinals fans that come to me and tell me we should trade Castro because he "doesn't pay attention on the field." If he weren't a Cub, the media wouldn't care so much about his occasional gaffe in the field. It happens to all players and especially the youngsters. But as we all know, they love to kick the Cubs at any chance they get. Cardinals fans are just ignorant in their own right.

Sarcasm? If not, I don't get it.

Yeah, I don't agree with that either. The only thing Machado has on Castro is a slightly higher walk rate and he might have more power down the road.

Can't forget that Castro doesn't speak the best English and might be a rapist with a Latin temper on top of his on-field antics.

The only reason he dropped is because Trout, Harper and Machado became eligible.
