Because James Harrison is an All-Pro LB who was arrested once five years ago and hasn't been since, and Chris Rainey is a fourth-string RB who's been arrested twice in the last two-and-a-half years for very similar reasons. (And this doesn't include his citation for defiant trespassing at The Meadowlands casino last month.) One player learned his lesson and the other didn't.
Honestly, I'm glad the Steelers wasted no time with this, and I hope he's only the first young punk to be gone. Alameda Ta'amu can go pound sand too, and I don't even want Rashard Mendenhall or Mike Wallace to be offered new contracts. I'm really getting sick and ****ing tired of all the goddamn stooge behavior from our younger players, both on and off the field. Get your **** together or get the **** out.![]()

Noooow it makes sense....
I don't think much is lost with this move. Rainey (I believe) is too small for the NFL. Every time he took a hit he lost the ball or came up gimpy. He is fine as a returner, but can be replaced there and as a third down back I prefer Baron Batch.
Clearly it's not about behavior - it's about performance. The idea that the Steelers would somehow take a hardline on behavioral issues while continuing to employ Roethlisberger is a joke.
Doesn't really matter the circumstances, men should not and cannot hit women. Plain and simple.
I honestly think morally sound men don't hurt women. Even if no charges or any bad legal issues come from this for him, the Rooneys just couldn't have someone who makes poor moral judgements and decisions on the team.
Glad he was cut.

His court appearance.
Check the latest reports... His girlfriend says it never happened and she wants the state of Florida to drop the charges
I really hope there was no truth to this. Maybe someone random person there saw it and interpreted it wrong or something, maybe one of her other girl friends.
Rainey has talent and seems like a nice guy. Not to mention, as a fellow beard wearer, his is pretty nice. It sucks he's so skinny, but perhaps he'll bulk up a bit and be a solid back for us.
The only posts I've ever seen from this flea user is the usual Ben hater "screw facts, there's no way he isn't guilty and there was a whole conspiracy to cover it up."
I'm completely against the "girls who wear slutty outfits are asking to be raped." No means no. But in this case, we don't know if the girl said no at all. Apparently this flea user does, so I'm curious why he didn't report himself as a witness. Ben bought drinks for a 20 year old with a fake ID, she had a pin that said DTF and they went into the bathroom. There wasn't even evidence of sex, the issue was sexual assault not rape. And, again, no evidence proving guilt or innocence. But people like Flea believe what they want to believe regardless of facts.
It's true that if it had been a third stringer in Ben's position, he probably would have been cut. It's also 100% true that Ben has never been arrested while this is Rainey's fourth.
