    When Kobe Retires

DO you think he will for good or will he do the Magic/Jordan and comeback?

I think that after a year of rest he will get the itch back, he will be looking at games and saying to himself he is still better than the players he is watching and will end up coming out of retirment.

    What do you think?

I've thought about it and yes I can see him making a comeback if he retires next year

He'll first play football for AC Milan then do Space Jam II then make his comeback... with the Bobcats.

I see Kobe just riding off in the sunset. He will definitetly play next year, he is not gonna walk away from 30 large. The Lakers will sit down with him after the 2014 season, and see where he is at. If he retires great, if he wants to continue, he will have to take a significant pay cut. Probably in the 8-9 million range. They will do the same with Pau if he hasn't been traded before then. There is no way in this CBA will they be paying those guys max deals. Not gonna happen. First and foremost it is about the Lakers franchise and not about the players. Yes they will give him a bronze statue out front of Staples, but Kobe's big contracts are over after this one expires. Just my opinion.

Kobe is intimately involved with the narrative of his own career. He believes his own hype in a self-sustaining way. (I'm not saying other players don't.)

With Magic, he got knocked out of the league by HIV. With Jordan, he got knocked out by being a moron. Both of them had reasons to come back that Kobe simply doesn't have. He's had an unbroken run, almost all of it on his own terms.

I've been hoping that Kobe would be able to transition from super-star to high-efficiency shooter over his last few years, kind of like Ray Allen on steroids. (Heh.) And I think we can all clearly see that Kobe could do that if he wanted to. He's still able to score with ease, and he could still make his shot selection easier and more efficient.

But I don't think he's wired up that way. He wants to go out as the greatest ever, and in his own mind that means leaving an indelible image of physical dominance in the minds of the world's fan base. That's who he thinks he is, and if he can make real-world decisions that legitimize that historical persona I think he'll do it. If nothing else, he has clearly shown that he has that kind of personal will and discipline.

So no, I don't think he comes back after he retires. I think he goes for an ownership stake like MJ/Magic, and tries to expand his brand into other areas. Coming back would be an admission that he missed the game more than it missed him, and I don't think that's an admission he's willing to make.

Personally, I'm not even thinking of Kobe retiring yet. The dude is healthy as ever and is having a career season efficiency wise.

If he can sustain that for 3 more years, why not? Give him a two year, 35 mil deal after next season if he has a good season again next year. Yes, 35 mil. Better than 60 for 2 years, right?

And Michael Jordan left basketball because his dad died, Gail. He lost the drive to play and wanted to fulfill his dads dream of him playing baseball. Jeez, insensitive.

More like he left because of an Under the table ban for a betting scandal( that led to the murder of his father).

    Bill Simmons say.

I think Kobe plays another 4 years and the when he leaves.. he will be done.... as stated before... Magic retired early due to HIV+ diagnosis.. when that was under control, he was able to come back. Jordan retired first time to play baseball, came back when that didn't work out and the second time retired when Krause broke up the bulls/father murdered.. so he had reason to try to prove he could still play...

Kobe has alaready played more years than both Magic & MJ...
... You know you got a good DVR... whenever you hit pause on your remote during the action and it displays its favorite player....

I can see him playing 3-4 more years. After that, maybe a year or two in Euro.

I don't see Kobe returning after he retires. I think he will play one more year and then retire. He will probably become an owner of a team out in Europe somewhere.

Kobe will most likely retire from the NBA, still able to play at an extremely high level. I doubt he will come back. He has stated that he wants to play international ball after he retires. I'm sure that will more than satisfy his itch for basketball.
