I'm sorry, but why not do a ****ign search.
There's a lot of great minds in the hockey community and maybe Nonis is one of them. If thats true fine hire him but do an extensive interview process.
This is the best job in hockey for a GM if you give them autonomy
Twas quick... And expected
I wonder if his first move will be naming Brian Burke as assistant GM...enough with the ties alreay...fire Nonis too and let the team take a new direction
His contract isnt likely long and i dont mind the move. His a good hockey guy. Had a lot of success in vancouver.
Burke is still an "advisor"
Should of put an interm tag on Nonis probably and made a decision later on whether he's the guy or not. I'm kinda wondering what type of GM he will be. He's been a number 2 for a long time since Van city. Maybe he's learned. He's certainly learned alot of what not to do from Burke during his time here.

His contract is likely only a year or two so it is likely an interm type of plan.
I'm assuming that too. You just figure eventually they'll get somebody else. Hell who knows, maybe Nonis does some great things.
Exactly what im thinking. Win win here. See if Nonis can turn it around if not dont renew his contract.Originally Posted by KingerSoxMaster:25031547
Fine with it. Not much else to add. We know sorta what we are getting in Nonis. I can handle what he brings.
People say Nonis is the same as Burke. I don't buy that. They're friends, and thats about it. I think a bit of a different philosophy will be good. He'll make moves Burke probably wouldnt it and avoid ones he'd make.
Nonis was on sportsnet radio and said they are nothing alike personality wise...apparently they have had some good arguments
I've been hearing for years that Nonis was against the Kessel deal. But it's just been in some low key blogs and on other boards. Really no concrete evidence.
What I would love to see is Nonis gone at the end of the year bring in a completely new GM and then hire Eakins. Not likely to happen but I can dream
Hockey- Toronto Maple Leafs
Basketball- Toronto Raptors
Baseball- Toronto Blue Jays
Football - Philadelphia Eagles & San Diego Chargers
