The difference in range between the 2 is very large making it quite the upgrade, and it's not as though we would be cutting Peralta afterward, he would net us something in a trade, maybe a BP arm or right-handed outfielder.

We get Hardy for an extra year also.
Tigers won't get Hardy, not unless they find a new team for Peralta first.

Sounds like Soriano to the Nats, I'm glad we didn't get him but I know a couple guys liked him

I still think they'll sign someone else on a one year deal to help out Bruce. I can't think of anybody at the moment. I know Brian Wilson's name has been tossed around but last report I read on him, the Mets weren't really thrilled with his showing. Granted rust and injury probably played a factor.

I was thinking Matt Capps wouldn't cost much, not great but experienced and can still be lights out in stretches, plus he's only 29 so he could even revitalize his career here, never know.

I'm not crazy about Capps, but I don't think it's a bad idea. I think that all they would do would be to grab a guy with closer experience who is average. They could even bring Farnsworth back who had a good 2011 with the Rays, but then got hurt and lost his job to Rodney. I don't want to see that, but one of those two wouldn't surprise me. They should be cheap as well.

I just don't see us trading for a legit closer if they are really confident in Rondon being the man soon. Whoever they bring in would have to understand their role of "warming up" the closer's role for Rondon.
