ogletree sure is fast, but he plays way too high for a LB (considering he is like 6'3) and i didn't like how he consistently didn't shed blocks in that alabama game. that said, he might be the best athlete at MLB in the draft and all that other stuff is definitely coachable. i believe he's also an underclassmen, so he's real young and still learning. i actually think he was recruited as a safety and then transitioned to LB as he started to fill out.

i think the argument with te'o vs ogletree will come down to consistency vs playmaker. i mean te'o will make plays at the next level because he's an intelligent, instinctive guy, but ogletree could probably be a game-changer with time and patience. a guy that size (6'3, 235-240 right now), that fast, and that young could impact the middle of a defense with his playmaking ability. i mean, he could cover TE's and HB's now at the next level, let alone once he begins to read offenses and start using his head to make plays behind the line of scrimmage. i'm not sure he comes into the NFL and does all this right away, unlike Te'o. I think Te'o comes into the NFL right now and is the same player 10 years from now. Consistent, tackling machine, leader.

I like Te'o, but remember, this is a passing league, so as good as a tackling machine Te'o is, he's got to be depended on to run with tight ends and running backs, and that's for him, with the speed of the current Ray Lewis but the youth, strength, & instincts of the current Patrick Willis...Ogletree, i believe, has similar qualities to that of Jaquan Williams, and yet J. Williams is the linebacker we depend upon the most to cover running-backs and tight ends the past 2 years and made a good impact with the Giants so far in his career...with that said, I can still see Ogletree being a huge impact for the Giants, even though he's still developing at the linebacker position, but the fact that he's been playing that position well for 3 years, is remarkable, since he enrolled into Georgia as a safety (top ranked in his position coming out of high school) ---http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=aCPuKJyoSvE&feature=endscreen ----this is a clip of Te'o against Miami from this year, he's good at getting in the backfield and making a tackle, but in one play he later fails to tackle a speedy wr of a screen pass that leads to a 20+ yd td play, which is the lone flaw of the highlights...Ogletree does need improvement into his technique, as shown in this clip of him against Tennessee --http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=730bSbwZmUA&NR=1 --- but he does have that explosive speed, which makes him that #2 MLB the Giants should get behind Te'o....

Yea.. Obviously can't judge him on just that but there's obviously people who watch the guy play 1 time in a bowl game and judge him off that 1 game rather then his entire career..

I'd rather have Ogletree, though I wouldn't be mad at either.

That said, I get a strange feeling JR goes with a DE like Okafor or Mingo

If JR chooses a DE in the first round again, he should be tarred and feathered in the Stadium parking lot.

We cannot continue to ignore our poor LB stats, our old and oft-injured O-Line, our terrible DT play, and our horrific CB situation. Enough of this "best-player available" bullsh*t....we have real needs that he should aggressively try to fill, either in the draft or free agency or both.

We need a game-changer on defense and an offensive line that can consistently open up holes for our speed-demon Wilson.

If he drafts another DE, RB, or WR, before anything I mentioned above....then we need a new GM. Realistically, we should be trying to get either a LB or one of Bama's O-Linemen in the first round...period.

slow down bro, lol, the free agency frenzy happens a month before the NFL Draft, so just like how JR found Stevie Brown & Will Hill, JR will find young, experienced players at corner & DT, and even some veterans as well...now MLB is an issue, but this year's draft are filled with a lot of good MIKES....Ogletree, Skov, Minter, & Reddick.....we'll be able to get one of these guys in the 2nd - 3rd round, hopefully, but the D-Line IS the most important need, bro, believe it or not, we will enter the 2013 with JPP, Kiwi, gassed-out Tuck, & the young Ojomo & Adrian Tracy.... you think that position doesn't need help, they do, and picking a DE like Ziggy is realistic, or they go for a DT like Richardson with that high-motor...I haven't given up on Marvin Austin yet, I'll give him one more year to improve his technique and get back to shape, otherwise, D-Line is the position that cries out the most for help in the draft

I completely agree....i put this up so that people who think Ogletree is better should think twice...I would take Te'o over Ogletree if he's available at 19, just saying, but obviously, they both are young, very talented MIKEs who would take control of the defense and defend the field from sideline to sideline, but I'm interested to see their performance at the scouting combine though, it would at least show a peak of their potential

I read that earlier today and now ND released a statement saying he was a victim of a hoax and now its all over ESPN

    holy ****

Now Manti released a statement saying he's ashamed of being so naive. No shot. He was in on all of this in an attempt to win the Heisman. ND was in on it too.

Maybe we can get him later in the draft now
