REPORT: VISA REMAINS FOR BAYNES TO JOIN SPURS
    Written by Jeff Garcia

Though news spread like wildfire on the San Antonio Spurs signing Australian center Aron Baynes, there has been no official word from the team itself on the news.

And though all signs seem to point to this being a done deal, add this tweet from his former Slovenian team Union Olimpija on Baynes status. It seems all that is in the way are visa issues before the big man joins the Silver and Black.

This isn't the first time an international player had to deal with visa issues before heading to the Spurs. Guard Patty Mills' visa issues also were in the way before he come to the NBA.

Baynes averaged 12.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in Adriatic League and 13.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in the Euroleague. It will be interesting to see if coach Popovich will give the big man minutes considering he has not played one minute in the NBA.

I guess good things come to those who wait. Let;s just hope good things are in store for both the Spurs and Baynes.

'Coach, we've got an issue with Kawhi in the arena. Event management called and the lights are not on, and Kawhi's in the arena for two straight days at 6:30 in the morning. And he brought two lamps from home, and he put them up in the arena and shot.'

I knew it'd take some time for him to get all the clearances he needed. I don't know if they're waiting on him before they move Blair?

But I did think it was interesting to see Blair come in last night and play pretty dam good ball in the first quarter. I mean if it's not a DNP, he usually only comes in in garbage time. Sure felt like a DB Showcase.

Aussie Aron Baynes departed from Slovenia this morning to head to San Antonio to complete physical and commence paperwork with Spurs.
This is from this morning... He may be w/the team next week if all goes well. Playing time/rotation? Only Pop knows that...

Cannot wait to see him play with the second team so that Blair can be moved.

It's official San Antonio Spurs fans, the team has signed center Aron Baynes:

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have signed center Aron Baynes. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not announced.

Born in Gisborne, New Zealand, Baynes most recently played for Union Olimpija of the Slovenian Basketball League in 2012-13. In 10 games he averaged 13.8 points and 9.8 rebounds in 26.2 minutes.

Baynes, 6-10/260, began his professional career in 2009-10 playing for Lietuvos Rytas of the Lithuanian Basketball League, a squad that went on to win the Lithuanian National Championship. In 2010-11 he played in Germany for EWE Baskets Oldenburg before joining Ikaros Kallitheas in Greece the following season.

In the summer of 2010 Baynes was named to the Australian senior national team and competed at the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey. Baynes then represented Australia at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where he averaged 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting .656 (21-32) from the floor.

Baynes played collegiately at Washington State from 2005-09, where in 122 career games he averaged 8.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in 22.0 minutes.

Baynes will wear No.16 for the Silver and Black.
This news doesn't come as a shocker as it was reported that the Spurs were signing him and he was on his way to San Antonio last week. Now Spurs fans can be excited to see a young player mixed in with this team. Baynes' aggression on both ends of the floor is something that the Spurs are desperately looking for off the bench.

Aron Baynes participated in shootaround this morning and is expected to be in uniform for Spurs tonight in Dallas.
    Great news
