How did Isiah Thomas not make any all nba teams from '88-91?

I don't know, all those teams are pretty hardcore. I think Stockton put him in his shadow. He did make it 1st team 84-86, and 2nd team in 83 and 87. He does have some notable accomplishments, like 2 championships and finals MVP.

I can't say this but, who do you think is the better guard? and where do you think he should have been?:

    Stockton
    Thomas(your guy)
    Jordan
    Price
    Drexler
    Magic
    Johnson
    Ellis
    Dumars

Personally Stockton will always be #1 to me. Magic, Robertson and Jordan are in an elite club, and I always think of these guys as un-comparable. I am not a big Thomas fan, but he was easily the best PG in Piston's history giving them 2 Winning Finals.

But what is weird, is that he got those Championships in 88 and 89, which are two of the years you talking about, but Dumars made the team and he didn't.

I think you pretty much answered your own question when you posted those rosters.

It kinda is what it is.

He was a disliked player from a number of angles. Magic once his friend grew to loathe him. Bird let Isiah off the hook for his massive faux pas, but he had nothing to do with him either. Jordan hated him. Gavitt didn't go to bat for him to get on the dream team.

IMO, he made his bed, and he gets to lie in it.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

told you all since 2010 he was a toolbag.....

In 88-89 Kevin Johnson and Stockton were the two guards for the 2nd team. Strange. And yea, it doesn't make sense isiah doesn't make first, second, or third team in any of those years. He should have been at least 2nd or 3rd team all 3 seasons.

Let's see - ***** makes consistent back-handed compliments or just straight up hate to MJ's greatest adversaries - guys that ROUTINELY kicked the crap out of him in the playoffs.

    Dude you're a freakin TROLL.

And Isiah got ROBBED is probably why.

The REAL question should be -

how in the HELL did MJ get 2nd place finish in 87 when his pathetic team led by HIM only won 40 games. FORTY.

How did he win the MVP in 88 when Bird put up equally nasty stats, on a much better team, that got to the Conference Finals and didn't crap out in the 2nd round.

Because he was better. Led the league in PER and Win Shares and Scoring and in 1988 led in them again including steals. While Bird lost with HCA despite having 4 other allstars on the squad.

I absolutely would have put him on there over Dumars and Kevin Johnson some of those seasons.

Possibly the league was holding Isiah Thomas down for his comments about Larry Bird?

I think he should have been in the team over Kevin Johnson and Mark Price. Magic Johnson and John Stockton are pretty tough to beat in any all pro team.

Dale Ellis was 3rd Team All-NBA in 88-89?! I had absolutely no idea and am kinda surprised tbh.

As for Zeke the rest of the guys here have pretty much covered it: he was not only disliked heavily from his peers but also put on ice from the league because of the Bird story. No doubt he was a monsted on the court though.

I don't think MVP's count playoff team success.. Maybe you can explain how they do, or troll on...

As for crapping the bed in the post-season, didn't Bird choke out that playoffs to the SAME EXACT TEAM!!!! (shooting like 35% in the series and with home court and a better team and going out in 6 games and just choking his way to a 4 of 17 game with his back against the wall?). Plus Bird had recently won 3 in a row. Voters get tired of that. It's why Jordan lost out to Barkley and Malone. Not one damn person would have said no to trading him for them those years, but they won it. Same today with Lebron.

And how ****ing hateful do you have to be on a player to ***** and whine about the years he did NOT win an MVP??? Oh my god he should have been 5th in the MVP voting, not 4th! What the crap is that?

    Sorry...

As for Thomas, the first two years are where you have the argument, the 3rd year he missed half the season, the 4th he was starting to decline a bit. he wasn't well liked in that time, and some guys had career years. Dale Ellis made 3rd team scoring 28 a game and shooting 48% from beyond the arc that year. Best backcourt scorer outside Jordan.

Agreed with Bagwell. He was kept off the Dream Team because several players threatened not to play if Isiah were on the team. Even though Isiah wasn't really a dirty player IMO, his reputation is affected by Lambeers and other aggressive Piston players
