Haha! Starting him in the OF is a bad idea.
1 year 750K isn't really a bad idea, if he blows (as expected) it didn't really set you back
So much for AL only teams being interested. Looks like nobody from the AL was interested at all
From the AP on Delmon Young's deal with the Phillies:
The deal for the AL championship series MVP, announced Tuesday, calls for him to get on a scale on six occasions to be chosen by the team. He'll receive $100,000 each time he makes weight, according to details obtained by The Associated Press. The first three times, he must be 230 pounds or less, and the second three, 235 pounds or less.
is there a clause where he gets fined every time he misplays a ball in the outfield? probably not or he'd be bankrupt by the all star break.
At least they're letting him gain 5 lbs at the midway point
Delmon's defense will determine his playing time and dropping 30 lbs should help. His bat should do pretty good in hitter-friendly Citizens Bank. This could pay off nicely for the Phillies in 2013.
Young's due to rebound, if he's healthy and curbing his drinking/eating output. He needs to be put on a leash a few times thou, since NYC is in his division and frequent trips there will occur. That's his party town and he could easily even commute there (1/2 hr plane ride) during long Philly home-stands.
