    Palmer 13 million or Pryor 555, 000?

Palmer 13 million or Pryor 555, 000 on a rebuilding team?

Who would you prefer at QB at the price? We all know palmer is a better qb. next season I expect this team to be competitive and make the playoffs and if we want to be competitive then we need to keep palmer. If other teams can have the first pick in the draft and then make the playoffs why cant we? but when I really think about it in my heart I want to believe we will be in the playoffs but I doubt we will. so it brings me to this. would you rather keep palmer and overpay him to be a qb for a rebuilding team or let him walk and get 1 star player who will be here for the future or 2-3 good players with his money. I honestly want to keep palmer if we get good players on both sides of the ball but if reggie is planning to stay quiet again in FA or the draft ill rather have palmer walk. Maybe there’s a team that would trade for palmer.

I think we cut Palmer and play Pryor. I'm a Palmer fan, but his cap # is too high. If we can take a 6mil cap hit by cutting him, instead of a 16 mil cap hit by keeping, the logical answer is to cut Palmer.

He's not going to be useful unless we're contending, which we won't be. Lower risk and higher reward with cutting Palmer loose. Definitely a bummer though.. Would've loved to see Palmer with Hue operating the O this year.

Teams can rebuild and plug a QB in down the road. Example; Seahawks, Broncos.

the right call for the long haul would be cut ties with CP3 and give TP the nod but i highly doubt that will happen this off season. Pryor still needs some grooming and CP3's the right guy for the job IMO. I would like us to keep him around for at least another year while TP gets experience if he restructures...

All I gotta say is that 13 million could do wonders for our defense...Thats about 4 or 5 really good starters. You add that to our team plus this years draft and we would be a lot better then 4 - 12 next year.

6-7 mil if we dump him or 16 mil if we keep him.

From what I've read on other threads on this site.

cap hit - means we would be paying TP close to 8m if you add on carsons

we would have cut everyone who made over 1m if we could - funny things these contracts

It seems to me that you can't answer the QB question until you answer the OC question. If you hire Saunders, you can't use TP effectively as a QB in that offense. However, if you want to implement an offensive scheme with spread-type elements, then you give CP the boot and find another guy. In either case, I'm not certain that TP is the starter next year.

What if we trade him do we get any cap hits then? Arizona, jets,KC or buffalo may jump on for a trade. its unlikely but Palmer contract is not garunteed so you never know.

If you want to look at it that way...Or we are saving 9-10 million which could be spent in free agency to shore up other gaping holes that may make TP look like he is worth 8 million.

Just because TP has the running ability to run a spread offense, it doesn't mean he should. Mike Vick has ran his whole career and look at him. It would be better for TP to play like McNabb, who was a great runner in his early years but decided to run as little as necessary.

I think if we sold low, like a 4th and 5th round pick for him plus he is willing to restructure for the other team...But I believe we still take a cap hit.

On the field, there is no reason to have Palmer win us 4 games next year while we rebuild. It does nothing but ruin a better draft selection for 2014, for when we would need to figure out who our QB will be heading into the future. Playing Pryor also gives us a chance to see if we need to spend our 2014 1st on a QB.

Only reason Palmer would stay would be because of a cap hit, which I believe is bigger in 2014. So we cut Palmer now, take that hit, move on and find our QB to rebuild with moving forward. Or we can keep Palmer while we rebuild just so we can stay in the 3-5th pick range and have no QB to groom while Palmer retires just in time for the rest of the team to do something.

"Hey 2016 Oakland Raiders, ready to go to the Superbowl? Well hold that thought, we just now drafted a QB since we didn't groom one while we were rebuilding the rest of the team. So you'll just have to hold on and hopefully you all will be in your prime when he is ready."

Who rebuilds a team without a new young QB to move forward with? We do obviously.
