This is a good way to say it. The movie would have been a 9 for me if not for the ending, but the ending should really count as a negative two out of ten, therefore the seven rating.

I don't condone vigilante behavior such as that displayed by Butler's character, but it was almost as if the ending suggested that the judicial system was fine the way it was. There could have been a whole lot of better ways to handle the ending. Butler's character could have gone on disrupting corrupt judicial systems without resorting to murder, Foxx could have worked with Butler on taking down the system in a non-violent approach, the corrupt group that almost died could have been given a fitting scare of their lives while ultimately surviving... There were a lot of better ways to end this, but instead they ruined it.

Not bad, 6/10. Pretty forgettable but thoroughly enjoyable thriller.

I believe you misinterpreted my suggestion. I am suggesting that, after murdering the people that he did, the film could have ended with him deciding to stop murdering as a means to promote a better judicial system. And I'm pretty sure a lot of people would have liked that ending. He clearly could have incorporated his history into putting fear into corrupt lawyers, attorneys and judges.
