    Trade Chris Sale

    Just saw this article, and thought it would make for an interesting discussion. Trading Sale we obviously would have to be blown out of the water with a package of young talent with at least 5 years of team control. What if Texas offered us Profar, Olt and Perez? I have to imagine we could get a better package for Sale than TB got for Shields, since he is younger and under control for another 4 years.

    Part of me is open to getting a great package ( that sounds sick by itself ) in a trade with Sale but a bigger part wants to see a full year two with us and see if he can be the ace.

    I would consider trading Sale, but it would have to be a pretty big return.

    We would have to get a haul. That's a nice package from Texas, if they are willing to part with it. If we're trading Sale, I would then like the team to explore moving anyone else of value at this point, as its basically waving the white flag on the 2013 season.

    I would think that any package for Sale would have to include 3 top 100 prospects! Very few teams have the type of talent we would be looking for in a trade though. Definitely dont want to trade him, however if some team offered us an absolutely incredible package of young talent, we would have to listen. A trade like that could really help establish the future of this team.

    Trade Chris Sale

    If we got a package that blew Hahn out of the water, he would not even think twice about it

    i wouldnt be against it,even thought about it.but it would have to be for something very,very good.

    the problem i'd have with trading him for specs is our ability to develop hitters(or lack there of),so it'd have to be mlb ready position players or pitching

    Everyone is tradable at the right price. However, I don't think there's a chance that Texas would do that trade listed in the OP.

    If James Shields nets Will Myers and Jake Odorizzi. I have to imagine that any trade for Sale would have to start with either Profar or Machado. Say we got Profar and Olt for Sale. Our future IF with the development of Sanchez would look pretty promising.

    The problem is a lot of prospects don't pan out, even some high ranked ones. Trading Sale would be a very, very fine line to walk making sure you don't under sell him, but at the same time being 99.9% positive that the prospects acquired would be above average major league players for more than a year or two.

    I dont want to trade him unless its for an offer that is too good to turn down ie more than the Rays got for Shields.

    1. A great young left-handed line-drive-hitting corner OF;
    2. A great young left-handed line-drive-hitting 3rd sacker; and
    3. A great young left-handed line-drive-hitting Catcher.

    Any takers?
