It's funny everyone laughed at the Magic for trading Howard, for at the time seemed pennies on the dollar. A year later, I think the Magic got the best out of the trade.
Lakers: May loose Howard and went from a perenial playoff team to barely making the 8th seed on the last game of the season
Sixers: Got shafted with a broken rental of Bynum and had to blow up their team
Nuggets: got an overpaid Iguodala who is a free agent and may relocate ( I say to either Hou, Dal, or Atl, whoever looses out on Dwight)
Magic: Got the 2nd best rebounder in the league in Vuvecic; Cap space, Harkless, and may turn Aafalo into Bledsoe. They also are in the running to get one of the most hearlded prospects in Wiggins next year.
And if that was not enough: a first-round pick from either Denver or New York in 2014, a conditional first-round pick from Philadelphia and a conditional second-round pick from the Lakers in 2015, and a conditional first-round pick from the Lakers in 2017.
Kobe will be gone by 2017 and if Dwight is gone to, that pick could be nice if it isnt lottery protected
harrington was really only there to make the contracts balance i believe. an extra expiring instead of harrington would have been nice, but that's no reason to hold up the trade. his contract is only half-guaranteed, and his salary only potentially could harm us next year in FA. these first two seasons it really just doesn't matter.
i'm happy with it we didn't get equal value, but hey! we got more than LA is about to get for him when he bolts to Houston...plus they gave up Bynum too. we win, they lose. i always said "something is better than nothing"
I'm definitely splitting hairs because they won a lot of different parts to the deal and ultimately its impossible to get = value, but LA was rumored to be taking on AH... and somehow we give up Earl Clark too?
sorry I just hate Harrington since his Knick days, he's a huge waste of space and he managed to get ANOTHER bs contract.
yeah. it's definitely not good we got harrington at all. it's bad. it's just not gonna hurt us a whole lot.
i've always been so low on clark that he's an afterthought to me. forgot he even was involved in it. it is odd that we did have to give him up. again, it could have been a necessity due to finances. i think his hot streak in LA was a fluke. but we'll see.
Thing is, Orlando is already discussing buyouts with Hedo and Al, so I don't see what the big issue is. He was put in to balance the deal, and buying him out is going to save us money. Bottom line, it looks like we are currently the winners of the trade (unless you count Houston or Dallas :P)
Yeah we took back Harrington, who we can buy out. but just think we got rid of Chris Duhon's contract. A guy who must have had dirt on Otis, because he was drastically overpaid and was a terrible backup and a waste of roster space.
******* Dwight. We got lots of young talent guys like Vucevic, T12, Harkless, Drew, and my guy Oladipo who could be a srar for us someday. Not to mention we'll have some cap room next season if we choose to use it. I like where were at now.
That is the continuing issue with Dwight. his mouth. He is not good at responding to reporters and portraying the cookie cutter image he wants to put out there. At the end of the day, I think trying to portray someone who you are not becomes difficult to balance and he really could have used some time in school.

I'm so numb to Dwight these days. I just don't care about anything related to him...good or bad.
