Chris Stevenson of the Toronto Sun: There was talk out of Montreal on Tuesday that P.K. Subban’s camp could be looking for a contract similar to Kings defenseman Drew Doughty. Doughty signed an 8 year, $56 million deal last year.

I don't see anyone touching that, not even Montreal. For that deal would cost a team (2)1st, 1(2nd) and 1(3rd)

That is a tough opening game, at least it is at home. Good test to see where we stand against one of the cup favourites. They always play us tough too.

That's crazy. If that's true, I don't think PK has proved himself that much. That's also a very large deal, even for Doughty. With the cap coming down I find it hard to believe teams going for that.

Maybe he's trying to flee a sinking ship? I agree if that's the demands then he is out of his mind.

The Canadiens are not a sinking ship. Besides there isn't even any truth to the salary rumors. He will get a deal done for what I am willing to bet will be 5-6 yrs 4.5-5 million per.

The habs have so many young assets in Galchenyuk, Desharnais, Pacioretty, Subban, Price, Leblanc, Beaulieu, Tinordi, and Collberg. They also have good veterans like Plekenec, Cole, Gorges, and Gionta.

Last year was a fluke IMO, they are going to be a significantly better team this year
