Well, in reading all of the various threads, most arguments boil down to our need for RH power.

Suggested Target:

Alfonso Soriano

Perfect fit for our lineup.


Cubs will pay just about his whole salary for a decent prospect.

Betances ? Theo likes him.

Ability wise, why not? (Don't know if I'd give up Betances for a rental.)

I think his attitude on the field coupled with Cano's lack of hustle at times, is too risky. I don't think the Stein' boys will want that image for the team.

No thank you. Too many K's. I'm sick of the same old hit a home run or strike out batters in our line up. Doesn't work in the playoffs against better pitching.

Rather us get a cheap contact hitter.

A Soriano reunion might actually sell some nostalgia tickets so Hal would benefit from that. I also feel that he's a guy who actually showed hustle when he was here and might be motivated if he had hope of leaving the black hole known as Wrigley.

This would be contingent upon giving up minimal in prospects and being hooked for minimal in salary.

At this point this might be the best option available as pitchers and catchers report in five weeks and our pickings right now are a joke.

He almost became a huge Yankee star.....if his HR in the 8th inning of Game 7 of the 2001 WS held up they would have won 4 straight WS and he probably stays in NY for his entire career.

In 2002-2003 he was a playoff joke and that was that!

There is no need for a thread like this. You yourself say it is in many of the threads you read through.

i would like it in my opinion. 19 mill this year and next and the cubs would prob pay at least 25-30 of that 38 mill. he would fit well in the right handed-DH role
