    Sunshine

This was a relatively unpopular movie from 2007 but it's really well done. It's one of my favorite movies but I'm also a big fan of space horror movies. If you haven't seen it check out the trailer.

Looked very good but was lacking in every other aspect, IMO.

I don't like that it goes from a smart sci fi movie to a slasher film in the last 3rd.

Yeah, but the whole idea was based on the power of the sun. The closer they got to it, it became like a god to them and drove them insane.

I really liked how it changed course midway through. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I wasn't expecting it to turn into a well-made slasher flick in space. Unlike most slasher films, however, this one had suspense because you cared about the fate of the characters, and there was a reason behind the slasher's motivation. Really good mix of theological/scientific interests too. I would give it an 8/10.

It was on mark to be my fave Sci Fi flick up until that point. But it went from being a smart movie to a stupid slasher flick. It felt like a movie that could have been simply awesome.

yea that kind of annoyed me too, but the first 2 parts were good enough to make up for that to me

A mindless slasher is Jason.. Sunshine is not a mindless slasher. The killer had a purpose, as did the victims. Corazon's final moment, as the light left her eyes and she was left with a single plant rising from the ashes - was far too poetic to be likened to a machete to the jugular. Life will always find a way to prevail, in some capacity.
