I like the 1 stop shopping AA did, my only wish is that either Stanton on LoMo was on the list of guys from Miami.
Dickey is fine, should be fun to watch, Cabrera could be good or a bust and but still better than what we had last year.
As for Buehrle, the money guys new exactly what they were getting with him both in $$$$ and in risk at 34. So I am fine if we get those 200 I for the next 3 years.
Wish we could put CF to rest, and EE is for real and not just another Reynolds. 1 great year then poop. But I have faith.
But I think what we see now is what will be at TC. which is fine with me.

I wouldn't do much different but I probably wouldn't have paid that price on RA Dickey.
Don't get me wrong, love the guy and he is already a fan favorite... can't wait to see him pitch.... but would I have given up Syndergaard and d'Arnaud for him? Probably not....
That said, I'll never complain if my team is making big moves to try and win it all, so I'm most pleased with the work AA has done this offseason. Really need to replace Adam Lind though - mind boggling how he's going to be the starting DH when we have such a good chance at making the playoffs.
Had to be done! Go T-Rex
I completely agree and i think AA does as well. But Lind finished the season very strong.
In his first 178 PA he had a line of .206/.287/.388/.674
In his last 175 PA (after his call up) he had a line of: .304/.343/.441/.784
Mottola seems to have done well with him and it could carry over into next season.
Lind was getting on base more and strikeout a lot less. I am sure AA would love to upgrade the DH position but Lind did show some promise and is in a contract year (technically). So he does have a lot to prove.
The Jays cant do all their shopping in the off-season as there are teams who think they are contenders or drive a hard bargain now for their top guys. Whereas when the season starts their stance on a player like say... Morneau maybe soften and with his salary a lot manageable halfway through the season the Jays can pick someone like him up mid-season. Like Gillick did in 1992 and 1993; no all positions were filled with all-stars. Gillick held onto his prospects to use as trade bait during the season if something present itself in season.
I think AA is smart to hold off and give Lind one last shot. Keeping some prospects and financial flexibility will be key. Not everyone will produce; holes may open up and some may be more severe than others. That will be evaluated throughout the season and when that happens AA will have the ammo to make those adjustments.
How many good "DH's" are there in baseball? The only 2 (other then EE if you still call him one) I can think of are Big Papi and Billy Butler. I would have loved to have seen us outbid the Red Sox by a bundle in order to prey him away from Boston, but since we didn't, I don't mind using Lind against RHP.
