PF: Patterson/Jones/D Mo
C: Asik/Smith

Leaving an open roster spot for a guard spot left.

We don't lose that much and have the potential to make ourselves deeper.

Before you say it... I can totally see us going after Milsap or another step up at PF. This is not a case against that thought... This is the path of least resistance. Memphis cares more about getting under the tax then who they get back. They get a SF who they can plug in and also get a decent back up PF and back up PG who has better numbers than they have now.

Do we have holes after this trade? Absolutely... are we better? Well that is up for debate... I think we would be. And if you look at the moves we have already made it is not out of the question. Machado had to be cut... but we might be able to get him back as 3rd string guard if he is still available.

Teams capable of trade with salary:

Detroit
Indiana - unlikely (Granger/George and would have to give up West)
Milwaukee
Phillidelphia - unlikely (Would have to trade A. Bynum)
Dallas - unlikely (Would have to trade Kamen and Collision + others)
Utah
San Antonio - really is best fit but they may not be interested in salary

Close but really would be hard

Phoenix
Portland

Why is this good for us even if you are not a big fan of Rudy Gay?
We keep: Hardin, Asik, Lin (almost a certainty)
We keep: Parsons, Smith (Amazing contracts)
We keep: Jones, D Mo (Major future pieces)
We keep: Patterson (Debatable if this is best for future but could be worse)

Again, getting an upgrade at PF is also a good idea but what other trade do we get to keep as many pieces that many believe to be must keep player pieces? Memphis only has a few options which will keep the cost low. Not the best but certainly something we can get done without a Bosh, Melo, or Howard media drama filled month. Just my idea... Be kind in your debate! Lol...

Gay makes like 24 times what Parsons does for similar production. I'd actually be mad if we traded for him. Only go for a PG or PF upgrade or stand pat. No point in handicapping an excellent cap situation for a lateral move.

Just a thought, but it would fill a need for all three teams. You guys might not be up for it, but I figured there had to be some buyers remorse with Lin, and Raptors need to trade for guys under contract to insure they actually stay.

Sorry, it was Lin to the Raptors, Calderon to the Jazz, and Burks and Milsap to the Rockets. The other option would be just Al Jefferson to the Rockets.
