What's wrong with a 26yr old guy who happens to be our Aces favorite catcher? In 2010 and 2011 when Cervelli actually got playing time, he batted about .270....not to mention that he batted .300 with runners on or in scoring position and batted well into the .400's in 2011 and well into the .500's in 2010 when bases were loaded.

I'm not saying he's a hall of famer but you guys talk about him like he's garbage.

Career OPS+ of 84 and he's terrible defensively. So he's bad on defense and on offense. What's not to like. I at least have some faith in Romine as a solid defensive catcher.

You ignore other important stats like batting avg with runners on or in scoring position but you come back with OPS? Im sure you would find a bad stat somewhere and focus on that instead of focusing on the one thing Yankees couldn't do last yr, which is hit with runners in scoring position. Clearly, Cervelli has proven he can do that on the pro level.

You have faith in Romine as a good defensive catcher and so do I but Cervelli isn't bad on D otherwise he wouldn't be CC's favorite. Cervelli is a lot more athletic behind the plate and on the bases. All I'm saying is right now, from what WE HAVE SEEN, Cervelli has played better and there is no proof at all that Romine is better. If the Yanks thought Romine was better or ready, they would play him.

Romine has been given a few chances on the pro level and he looked over matched at the plate which is why the Yanks want him in triple A to see if he can hack it there first. Cervelli has proven his worth on the Pro level already so he gets the call. Seems pretty obvious and simple to me..

Is Cervelli the presumptive starter? He was below Chris Stewart on the depth chart last year. Has he moved ahead of him?
