    I like Cervelli, but with the bat, he is garbage. He won't cut it as a starter. Fully expecting to see Romine start. If not I'll be pissed we already got to deal with a ******** 189 payroll

    Guys, the issue with Romine is his back. Back issues zap a hitter's power (see Don Mattingly) and for a catcher they're usually career ending. Romine lost almost all of last season to back surgery.
    Cashman wants to see if his back holds up before ensconcing him on the major league roster. Makes sense.
    If he's healthy, he'll be our catcher. At least until Sanchez is ready. Or traded.

    I think that's right. If he can catch for 6 weeks in AAA, he will come up and start.

    If the team thinks he's the best option they have they should start him in the majors. What does it matter if he injures his back in the minors or the majors? If he gets injured you move onto the next scrap heap guy.

    AJ would have been a 1 year deal so I wonder what "plan" Cashman has. Romine, Cervelli and Stewart is just laughable.
