Why aren't the Celtics using Fab Melo?

    http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfil...ame_stats.html

He's putting up pretty good numbers in the dleague and he can't be worse then Collins. Why not give him a shot and see he reacts? They could definitely use the height. Collins is their only true center on their roster and they aren't fast enough to play small ball. They are a gritty grind it out team and I feel Melo fits the mold. Collins put up 2 pts and 1 rebound in 18 minutes last night. I feel Melo could at least do better then that and get a few rebounds. Thoughts?
I think Lebron is just the best all-around player we have in the game today.

Collins is an absolute turd. Brings nothing but fouls and some okay defense in the post. If Melo isn't going to get any significant minutes from Doc, then I'd prefer him to stay in the D League. Hopefully, he'll contribute next year.

Ainge gotta make a trade for a big man, get rid of Collins. Can't wait for Wilcox to get back at least he gives them something.

Because he needs a few more weeks/months in the D-leauge to develop.

Holy crap, 14 blocks in a game

But yeah, I agree with the others, since he won't get as much time due to Boston's Depth, might as well see him re-tool a bit in the NBDL.

More teams should do this early on.

Because he's dumb as rocks and he cant play with consistency.

He's going to benefit from consistent playing time, which is why he's in the d-league. He's not going to grow as a player if he's rotting on the bench playing sporadically in Boston.

^ Exactly as he said, plus the fact that he's only been playing basketball for like 3 years now and doesn't know the game yet.

So if he's so dumb wouldn't be better with veteran leadership and an all-star coach teaching him. And would it be better working him with minutes instead of Collins?

Except he hasn't played much organized ball. He needs reps to learn plays and the flow of the game, which is 2nd nature to everyone else in the league by now

There's some truth to that, but there are certain things taught in the D-league that Doc won't have time to teach, and on top of all that the consistency issue Corey was referring to can only to be rectified if you're "playing" consistently. With Sullinger, KG, Bass, Wilcox, and the fact that Boston plays small at times with Jeff Green at the 4, there's no time for Fab.

Wouldn't it be better to give those minutes to Melo I believe he could produce better numbers then that. I even think some of us posters on psd could have a better statline then 23 min 1 point 2 rebounds and 6 fouls

They're going about it the right way. Melo needs about 3-5 years still to develop. Extremely raw, & comes from mainly a zone Syracuse defense. With his limited experience before Syracuse (only started playing organized ball a couple years before college), the right place for him now is the D-league.

In about 5 years, he'll be helping Boston in the middle & probably be pretty darn good at his craft.

    Keep the development going.
