Burleson wants to retire a Lion and willing to work financially to do so

Well see what happens, Burleson said. I talked to the coaches, actually talked to (general manager Martin Mayhew) upstairs today and talked about my value to the team, being missed on and off the field. I told him I want to retire here. He said he feels the same way.

The city loves me, the team loves me, so well figure it out, Burleson said. I think it takes both sides to make that happen, and if anybody knows me its more about football than it is anything else. So without saying too much, Im willing to work it out because I love this team and I feel like this is my best chance to win a Super Bowl before I shut it down in a few years.

Hopefully he's back. One of the few vocal leaders on this team and a fan fav.

Agreed, come back for cheap. He doesn't have the same speed he once did but Nate can still be reliable for some 3rd down catches.

I agree. His leadership/enthusiasm/effort is also a big bonus that not a lot of guys can match. He's still a great #3 option should he be 100% from his injury. Not a number 2 imo, but he can still step up and make plays.

If Titus learns to be 2nd fiddle to Calvin, we could have a deadly receiving group next year.

    Calvin - Titus - Burleson - Broyles - Thomas

That's still damn good. Thomas should improve with an entire offseason to get use to the system and get some better chemistry with Stafford.

I would like like to see us add another big guy who can take some pressure off of Calvin, but we should definitely see some more 4 WR sets next year. And I guess Titus can be the one to take pressure off Calvin, he just needs to play every game like he did against the Seahawks. If you can routinely beat Sherman, you should be able to beat any CB in the league (especially when the #1 CB is on Calvin).

Agreed, sign him back up as long as he puts his price where his mouth is.

Very glad he wants to stay and very glad hes willing to do a paycutt. Nate is still a very reliable reciecer and an amazing leader. He was on espn a couple of weeks ago and i could tell he wasnt happy with how the season turned out. With him back i think that is a small step in the right direction.

I have no problem with Burleson coming back.

He was doing a damn good job this season before he got hurt IMO. He may be older and losing a step, but he is still better than a healthy Mike Thomas.

I also saw that they didn't rule out Titus Young returning. He he can get his **** together, our WR is complete going into the draft...you can only hold six WR and that would give us:

Johnson, Broyles, Young, Burleson, Thomas........and take your pick at #6 between Edwards, Durham or Robiskie.

I still think Titus Young is gone tho.
