From what I've heard, it's not projected to be a great draft so tanking doesn't give us much unless we trade our pick, which is probably the same mindset other teams have. It's about time we land a marquee free agent. Sooner or later I believe it will happen. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Mavericks get: Josh Smith, Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow and Anthony Tolliver

Hawks get: Shawn Marion, Chris Kaman, Vince Carter, Roddy B and DoJo.

According to the Trade Machine: Atlanta +4; Dallas -5

Clears an additional $12M off the books essentially with Trix and VC gone.

yeah you said it right this draft is not the best and come on we are not getting howard via trade befor trading deadline and paul will stay in LA....
so why not tank this season and let our rookies play,get dirk full healthy

I know this draft is not the best but you'll never know what you get until you out the player on the floor and into the system. Some players thrive off the system they are put in

Honestly , I don't expect a trade ,nothing major at least
What assets do we have? we have no draft picks
we don't have players that would help teams to win ,may be VC or Kaman could fit in some team
Our biggest asset is _as usual_ expiring contracts ,we used to be able to convert them into gr8 player through some trade,but fact is right now,Cuban and Donnie want to keep expiring contracts


As for the draft,I don't think it is such bad draft ,It isn't as good as the likes of 2009.2008 or 2007,but I think itt can be better than the likes of 2006,2011 and may be 2010 .It just lack the one "sure" thing that most drafts get hype based on it and people looks forward to see,considering our chance of getting the 1st pick isn't gonna be better than 2% at best ,I don't care about the bad draft label that much

Unless the Mavs surprise me, the likely names that will be hot around the deadline are Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, Pau Gasol, Andrea Bargnani, Monta Ellis, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Eric Bledsoe.

Only the first 3 would I expect Dallas to make a play for trying to get a sweet deal. They all are on expiring contracts, something that fits into the Mavs plan going into the summer. All also happen to be really good top talent.

If not, oh well. This teams needs spark though, new energy. New star to add with Dirk.

Appears Boogie Cousins still remains untouchable. Sigh
