Surprising that he was just outright fired. Not to say that I'm not glad, I just thought there was a good chance he would be here in some capacity next year.

Really makes me wonder what direction the team will go. When we bring in a GM, there's a good chance he might want his own coach. Woody could also be trying to get a feel for who would want to come in with Rex on board already.

Most teams do this because the owner isn't a football guy, so they don't know who to hire (for any lower level hires, a consulting firm is unnecessary because the GM contributes to that decision)

I'd prefer to retain Rex, but if Rex was to get outed, the only HCs I could positively accept would be Bill Cowher or Chip Kelly.

But nothing he saw last year should have given rise to a need to extend Sanchez. He still had this year to "see if he develops". Now we are looking at a wasted 2013. This is on him.
