sorry guys but imo, it doesn't look good.

in 1998 he has ricky watters as a runner and averaged 101.6 per game and 3.8 per carry. the seahawks finished 8-8 that year.

    in 2003 he had g. hurst as a runner & averaged 142.4 per game & 4.6 per carry & finished 7-9

in 2004 same runners, he averaged 90.6 yards per game & 3.5 per carry & they finished 2-14

    seriously don't like this move.

Me either. A TE coach gets rewarded for turning our 1st round TE into David "Stone Hands" Sloan part 2?

Must be buddy buddy with Schwartz.

A few months ago, there was reason to wonder whether Danny Crossman would finish the 2012 season as the Detroit Lions' special teams coordinator. The Lions had just become the first team in NFL history to allow a punt and kickoff to be returned for touchdowns in consecutive games, and fans were calling for Crossman's job.

Coach Jim Schwartz stayed with Crossman, who steadied the ship for the remainder of the season. Monday, however, Crossman left the Lions to join the Buffalo Bills in a similar capacity. Anwar S. Richardson of Mlive.com first reported the move. I've confirmed it, but from what I understand, Crossman left by choice because he and new Bills coach Doug Marrone are longtime friends.

Schwartz let three assistants go earlier this month, but he was planning to enter the 2013 season with Crossman still on staff. No replacement has been hired, but multiple news outlets are suggesting former Tennessee Titans assistant Alan Lowry as a likely target.

Meanwhile, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions have hired former Jacksonville Jaguars assistant Bobby Johnson to coach their tight ends and have moved Tim Lappano from tight ends coach to running backs coach. That leaves three vacancies on the Lions' staff: Receivers coach, offensive line coach and special teams coordinator.

But it wasent anywhere near the same team, San fran started a rebuild the 04 year, They had garcia and TO in 03 and neither of them in 04, There leading receiver was Eric Johnson a TE with 82 receptions for 825 yards in 04.. Look at the roster, http://www.pro-football-reference.co...s/sfo/2004.htm they had Tim Rattay and Ken Dorsey as QBs.. I wouldnt worry about the passing game either..

Allen Park — There has been some movement within the Lions' coaching ranks in the last couple of days.

According to the website coachingsearch.com, the Lions have signed former Jacksonville tight ends coach Bobby Johnson.

Also, special teams coordinator Danny Crossman has asked to be let out of the final year of his contract with the Lions. He is expected to be hired for the same job in Buffalo by new head coach Doug Marrone.

Marrone and Crossman were teammates with the London Monarchs in the World Football League. They also were together at the Coast Guard Academy in 1993.

If Crossman does leave, the Lions are expected to reach out to veteran special teams coach Alan Lowry, who was fired by the Titans after 17 seasons. He and coach Jim Schwartz worked together on Jeff Fisher's staff for 10 seasons.

Lowry, whose special teams routinely rank among the top five in all categories and was the designer of the famous Music City Miracle play
, told a Tennessee reporter Monday that he had not been contacted by the Lions.

As for Johnson, he is a former offensive tackle who for most of his coaching career has coached the offensive line. He was the tight ends coach in Jacksonville for one season, and an offensive line assistant in Buffalo for two years before that. He also coached the offensive line at Indiana University for five years.

The report said Johnson would coach tight ends in Detroit, even though Tim Lappano, who has coached the tight ends in Detroit the last four seasons, still is on staff.

If Johnson does coach tight ends, Lappano would most likely take over the running backs. He has coached running backs with the 49ers and Seahawks in the past.

There is a chance that Jeremiah Washburn, who was Yarno's assistant since 2009, will take over as offensive line coach.

The Lions have not confirmed either the Johnson hiring or the Crossman exit.

    Tim Twentyman ‏@ttwentyman

Lions have hired Curtis Modkins to coach RBs. Bobby Johnson to coach TEs. Tim Lappano will coach WRs. Jeremiah Washburn promoted OL coach.
    Tim Twentyman ‏@ttwentyman

During his tenure at Buffalo, Modkins developed C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. The Bills averaged 4.7 yards per carry over those 3 seasons.
    Tim Twentyman ‏@ttwentyman

For the past three seasons, Modkins was the offensive coordinator/running backs coach for the Bills. Really nice hire for the Lions.

Modkins is a great hire imo great dealing with RBs where ever he has been http://www.buffalobills.com/team/coa...b-cc2b28771268

not sure about Lappano as WR coach though...
"The way they play offense here is difficult for any quarterback," he said. "Every snap is an incredible decision. They're in a one-back offense, they can't run the ball against certain looks so they have to audible to some kind of a pass or a creative run to get away from trouble.
"There's never a play in the game where Stafford can just turn around, hand the ball off and catch his breath. Every play he's researching the defense and they throw as much as anyone."
