http://oplions.blogspot.ca/2012/12/t...-by-lions.htmlWhile Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz’s job appears safe, the Lions let go three assistant coaches on Monday according to reports.
Gone are wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson, running backs coach Sam Gash and offensive line coach George Yarno.
All three had contracts that were expiring.
Jefferson spent eight seasons as a coach with the Lions after playing for them in the 2003 season. He spent 13 years playing in the NFL. He was in two Super Bowls — one with the Chargers and one with the Patriots.
Last week Calvin Johnson credited Jefferson with his development as an elite NFL wide receiver.
Jefferson started his Lions coaching career as a coaching intern in 2005.
Gash served as running backs coach for five seasons after getting a start with the Lions as assistant special teams coach in 2007.
Yarno was the offensive line coach for four seasons. He was brought in when Scott Linehan was named offensive coordinator.
Jefferson going is kind of a surprise to me Jefferson probably looking for a promotion, though.

I made a firing thread for all fires and speculation about fires...
Anyone have any idea who some replacements could be?
I think the WR coach will benefit a lot since chances are they'll bring in some little things Jefferson didn't coach which should help everyone, even Calvin. Everyone has their own little tips/techniques
the whole staff should be fired give me a break not sure why only these guys got the axe
I'm not even sure that yarno is even the problem...he hasn't been here the past 10 years, how about we look at the people who have.
Kind of surprised Crossman wasn't fired. But the ST really improved (except the returns) since the Titans game I think. Coverage was pretty damn good even though we had a ****** punter.
Who's the QB coach? If you aren't going to fire lineahan at least fire that guy... Somebody take the blame for Stafford's lack of improvement in his footwork over these 4yrs
