According to ESPN, the Chiefs are on the verge of a deal with Andy Reid.
Reid never even made it to Arizona. Instead, he's expected to take over a Chiefs team that went to the playoffs in 2010 but has gone 9-23 since then. They do have building blocks in place with dominant pass rusher Tamba Hali, a true top corner in Brandon Flowers, a strong offensive line and the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft. Reid will likely take over complete control of football operations, meaning GM Scott Pioli's role will at least be marginalized. He could end up being replaced by Reid's old friend from Philadelphia, Tom Heckert. Although Reid is known for running a pass-happy West Coast offense, his arrival would be good news for the unique talents of Jamaal Charles. Reid doesn't use committee backfields and knows how to get his running backs in space -- especially as receivers. Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy became stars under Reid.
If this is finalized, the AFC West just got better.

I don't think they'll have go that far. Like us, the Chiefs have holes everywhere. But unlike us, they have their full complement of draft picks AND they draft first, which means that they can trade either their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd picks in exchange for even more draft picks. They could also dangle one of their picks for a solid QB like Flynn, or just give Alex Smith a call (or Palmer, if we don't re-sign him.) Given a good draft anything is possible.

That said, I'm not worried about the Chiefs. If we make the moves that I think we'll make this offseason, we're going to be competitive. Maybe not world beaters, but a .500 season is a reasonable goal.

Idk, it was already reported that Andy would sign McNabb to the Cardinals when he was favored to go to Arizona. KC's QB situation is basically as bad.

BTW, Palmer isn't a free agent. We owe him $13 million next year.

Lmoa, that would have him shipped out just as fast as he came in

I know Palmer isn't a free agent, but I also don't think that we're going to give him $13M. Something's gotta give. I'm betting that it will be us, and that Palmer won't renegotiate once he (or his agent) realizes that there is a market for his services.

This is outrageous we are going to let Reid and other great coaches like lovie smith and Chucky go to other teams maybe even in the afc west to help them win so we can keep Allen a man that just got most of his hand picked coaching staff fired wake up Mark Davis before it's to late to save us from another season of misery.
