Just by reading Haslam's body language and the way he's speaking it seems like he's very confident that he's going to get one of his top guys. Obviously that's pure speculation by me, though.

Banner clarifies that coach will not necessarily have final say over cap decisions, draft picks, etc. Coach will however have final say on who makes the roster, who are the 46 active, etc.

The comment is so true though. Colts and Browns both have been in alot of really close games. games where 1 more play determines a winner or a loser. Colts made those plays and Browns came up short.

Biggest difference for me is that the Colts took the chains off Luck. Said ya your a rookie but go do what you do. We def did not do that with Weeden. Also we play a much better division then the colts who have Jags and Titans.
For not honoring a sig bet I now own YEDB90

It's obviously true, but having Luck and Pagano/Arians is a big difference as you mention. It's a big reason why they won their close games and we lost ours. It's not simply bad luck in all the situations as the original comment seems to suggest. There's a reason we weren't winning our close games.

Grossi just said he thinks the coaching pool that Haslam was mentioning includes Saban, Kelly, Gruden, and O'Brien. He didn't think Josh McDaniels, Mike McCoy, and Kyle Shanahan were included.

Just got done with the presser of J&J and from what I could read into it is that Jimmy is going to go hard after his guy and will not take no for an answer. I really think he is going to go hard after Kelly or Saban with him saying that the HC will have a lot of final say on the roster. I think this eliminates most coordinators from the discussion. A couple updates I have seen:

Ian Rapoport: @RapSheet: On the Browns search for a coach: Told there are already 4 candidates, 2 college, 2 pro. Aaron Kromer is one of the pro coaches.

@AlbertBreer: And the Browns are expected to be in the Chip Kelly sweepstakes, which kick off in earnest after Thursday's Fiesta Bowl.

Jason La Canforna: The Browns and Eagles will both pursue Chip Kelly aggressively. Eagles also high on Jay Gruden. Both like Bill O'Brien as well ...

Albert Breer: Was told that a search firm was hired by 3 teams over a month ago to find GMs, and CLE & CAR weren't among the teams. Some homework's done.

Jason Cole: @JasonColeYahoo: In addition to Browns, hearing that AZ VP of player personnel Steve Keim is drawing interest from Jacksonville. Could get GM promo w/ Cards

Per Adam Caplan: @caplannfl: For those asking about Gruden in Cleveland: Would be shocked. He wasn't exactly exchanging x-mas gifts with Banner in his days with Eagles.

    STRANGER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED!!!

All the Cleveland beat writers seemed to think Haslam's comments pointed directly in Saban's direction. I agree, but like he said they have a pool of guys. I think the way Banner answered the question about spread offenses in college showed they're certainly interested in Kelly as has been mentioned.

I have no clue who we will hire. Too many rumors and speculation. I can't wait until they hire someone.

Yada, Yada, Yada... Again with another regime change. Lets just hope the Browns eventually find a QB and HC that maybe lasts for more than 2-3 years.

nice guy...but I am VERY glad that he is no longer the head coach of my favorite football team. I hope that he finds another job (though, to put things into perspective, he doesn't NEED one), but he was overmatched from day one.

Classy, classy guy. Sounds like he's pulling for the Browns in the future as he'll take some satisfaction from them winning in the next couple years.

That's what we said about Holmgren. Never know what is going to happen. I think that since JH3 is owner, he will be here longer than 3 years and it is his investment so he will be more driven that Holmgren. Just need to be patient.
