    W2W4: Knicks vs. Trail Blazers

The Knicks have gone 3-3 without Carmelo Anthony in the lineup.

    They’ve gone 21-9 without Amar’e Stoudemire.

There’s a chance both stars return to the court on Tuesday against Portland.

Here’s a look at Stoudemire and Anthony’s potential return -- and the Knicks' attempt to pick things up on the defensive end against the Blazers:

STAR STRUCK: The shorthanded Knicks will get a boost if Anthony (hyper-extended knee) decides he is healthy enough to play. He has missed the last two games after hurting his knee on Christmas Day. He participated in most of practice Monday but said he still felt weakness in his knee/leg. In Anthony’s absence, the Knicks have relied heavily on J.R. Smith and Jason Kidd. If he returns, that should lighten the scoring burden on everyone and create more open opportunities for Anthony’s teammates.

GOOD STAT? Stoudemire reported on Sunday that his knee isn’t yet at 80 percent. But he’s still hoping to make his season debut Tuesday. Mike Woodson said he’d have to check with Stoudemire before Tuesday’s tipoff to determine if he’d play. If Stoudemire feels soreness in his knee, the Knicks will err on the side of caution with their $100 million man.

DOMINANT D? The Blazers have a few talented pieces on offense (rookie Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge come to mind), but Portland ranks 21st in field goal percentage and 14th in offensive efficiency (points per 100 possessions). So perhaps the Blazers give the Knicks an opportunity to turn things around on defense.

After starting the season by playing dominant D, New York has struggled of late. They allowed season-high point totals for games at MSG against Houston (109) and Chicago (110) in their last homestand. They rank 11th in points per game, 20th in opponent field goal percentage and 17th in defensive efficiency, significant slippages from earlier in the season

Yeah...I really believe that we need both Tyson and Camby on the floor TOGETHER for these 2 types of matchups:

1 - When the other team has a lot of siize, such as the Lakers with Pau and Dwight
2 - When the other team has super quick guards which our PG's (when Felton isn't out there) can't stay in front of

Camby and Tyson will surely keep the guards from penetrating too much...at least from Camby's side.

    DANTONI IS:
    -HORRIBLE out of timeouts
    -HORRIBLE D
    -Too many 3's
-PF is pushed to the 3 point line
    -Doesn't play BIGS
    -Dog Houses players
-HORRIBLE management of players and motivation

Go out on your front lawn, take a dump and see how long your neighbors will talk about that little slice of life. That's what Mike D did to this franchise./QUOTE]

funny thing is Hickson is an Amare killer out there.

I'd like to see more Camby as well with Alridge and hickson on the floor.

Tonight begins the incessant over analysis of Amar'e, where every game, quarter, and possession will be the end-all, be-all for his future.

Knicks are not shooting around this morning. They'll have a walk-through before tonight’s game vs. Portland, so

whether Carmelo Anthony and/or Amar’e Stoudemire play may not be known officially until around 90 minutes before tipoff, give or take.

I hear ya on this ...the bad D and team chemistry will be put on Amare by some ..if we don't play well...even though in reality both have been poor for close to a month.

As much as I am looking forward to some of our major pieces getting healthy..I think I am fearing the BS that is going to go on in the discussions here more

    Good match up.

Worried about speed mismatches. Our ability to slow fast guards isn't so hot, especially when they can play a good pick and roll.

Would be nice if we smacked em down hard.

Let's start the New Year right.
