Red Sox Deal for Napoli Not Completed, Several Teams Confirm Talking About Him Since.

Mike Napoli's deal with the Red Sox has recently stalled due to a hip injury discovered during his pre-signing physical. This was a deal I thought the Dodgers should have made before his deal with the Sox was announced and regardless of his injury, he is an upgrade offensively for the Dodgers over A.J. and with A.J.'s looming age issues and the fact that he tapered off towards the end of the season mean this move is going to have to be made sooner rather then later. Since money is no object, the idea of a platoon of Napoli and Ellis at catcher until Ellis is gone and a platoon of Napoli and FedEx takes over doesn't seem like a bad idea. This team needs pop and Napoli's got it.

You might confused AJ and Mark on age. AJ and Naps are about the same age. AJ was just exhausted last season. For what it looked like, he caught the ball almost every single night.

No don't get him, he's probably going to catch 80-90 games and DH the rest. We don't have a DH in our league and first is taken over by gonzo, he has a nice bat for a catcher but that's it, plus I would rather have Ellis.. He has a great obp has alil pop and plays good def, plus the pitching staff loves him..

Plus injuries heal eventually so having he and A.J. split time would be a great tandem and that idea about a "$39 Million Dollar back up" With the price tags associated with the recent signings and the fact that we were ready to trade guys for Dickey knowing that it would cost us several players AND a $25 Million Dollar extension, does the idea of signing Napoli as a split time catcher sound crazy especially now that the price tag will come down?

This deal would actually be the one that cost the least so no, I don't think it's completely out of the question that the Dodgers would make a play for him or that it would be a bad idea.
