    Is Culture important?

Important meaning if it's necessary to your life. I'm growing up as a Pakistani 16 year old who couldn't care less about it. I know nothing of my culture and I don't get along with my family because of it.

With the exception of "It makes your family happy" argument, is it really necessary to ones life?

    (Culture meaning your ethnic culture)

Culture is a pretty powerful force in forming the moral foundation of who you are going to be. If you solely base your opinions and actions on the benefit to yourself, then you will make bad decisions. But culture and society force you to realize that your actions have impacts on others and change the way you view the world, usually in a positive way.

I don't know anything about the culture of Pakistan but I think there are universal truths that show up in all cultures that are important. Just remember to look at them through a lens of yourself and ensure that they aren't leading you in the wrong direction.

Your culture isn't really your nationality it's where you grow up. I am white and grew up in a African American culture.
Culture has a big impact on your life and how people see you. Your culture would be New York though and more specific based where in New York you live

I think it is important to an extent. I don't think it should be adopted completely because times change. But its always important to remember who you are, where you come from and to hold onto the important values.

Heck, even without values, culture/heritage are important for the diversity of the world.

Maybe it's just me, but it really bothers me when people put too much stock into things like race or culture. There are certain groups that only tend to hang out with people in that group instead of looking for people with mutual interests. It's always bothered me. You can't control things like that, so to put stock into that is basically to put stock in utter randomness. Don't get me wrong, it's fine to have pride in where you come from, but people who completely define themselves based off of it bother me.
    We're better than you
    And we know it
