Okay this seems slightly shady but if it’s legit Dom’s a true ROCK STAR MAD SCIENTIST MEGA BRILLIANT GM!!!!! The math by as I see it….. 98 of 120 million leaves roughly 22 million. After the restructuring, we have about 8.5 under for this year. Meaning roughly 30.5 million of open cap space prior to free agency and or the draft avaliable for next year…. Not bad, not bad at all considering the 3 huge contracts we paid out last year in FA.
Further, I dont belive these figures account for the possibility of voiding Wrights contract sooo in short. Time to go shopping boys. GET YOUR WISH LISTS READY FA HERE WE COME!!!!

It's a brilliant move by a very good GM if it's true. It looks like we could be active in free agency. Dear Santa I want a CB a DE and a contract extension for Freeman
Am i the only one confused? he was allowed to carry the money over anyway right?
so it really doesnt change anything unless there was a limit on carry over.

We may be players in FA again this year. I'm excited.
Yes we could carry it over tho I am not sure how much. However buy using up 2012 avaliable space we have now in a restructure, he is effectivly shifting used/tied up monies from the future that he kinda already allocated into a season that is about to end. It also pays down a portion of their salary thus reducing our hits if they where cut becuse we already paid it. Its like a shell game kind of.... Hence why I said it seems shadey.... However if the league rules allow it, then it is what it is. Bottom line by shifting the money into 2012 from the 2013 he is giving himself more actual operating capitol for next year because he paid part of 2013's debit with cash he had from 2012.

Dominik.
We can also shed a lot more cash by releasing Quincy Black and Eric Wright for no penalty like Hammy mentioned earlier.
Quincy Black's remaining contract:
2013: 5.5 Million
2014: 5.5 Million
2015: 5.5 Million
Eric Wright's remaining contract:
2013: 7.75 Million
2014: 7.25 Million
2015: 7.25 Million
2016: 7.50 Million

@quik I keep thinking more and more theyre gonna keep Wright and get rid of black
@hammy i get that but my point is...if they just moved money from 13 to 12 it doesnt gain us anything cuz the rollover from 12 to 13 would have been exactly the same
another major point is i dont get the specific numbers in the article
it was my understanding that vincent cost us 13 million this year (11 base 2 bonus) before this add a 12 million bonus thats 25 not 15 as the article says
same thing with nicks
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/tampa-bay...rs/carl-nicks/
he got an 11 million dollar bonus but his cap figure went down 9 million
this article is either wrong or he explained something in a way he shouldnt have...the way hes saying it the numbers dont add up
IN BANKS WE TRUST
I don't think the bonus money factors into the salary cap.
this will undoubtedly be taken negativly by 3/4 of the posters here but I hope were not getting ready to throw a bunch of money at freeman for an extension. if they extend him it should be for 4 years 25-30 million max
http://www.spotrac.com/premium/resea...rterbacks-237/
8-10 mil is reasonable
Id like it to be 5-6 years in a perfect world
IN BANKS WE TRUST
Is anyone else starting to think we should bring in some better competition for freeman?? Im not so sure about him anymore. I would like to see the bucs sign tebow. Maybe then they could have a couple sellouts at home.
Here's a question if we're keeping wright why wouldn't we restructure his contract like the other two. I think we're getting rid of him but maybe it's wishful thinking.
Btw this article shows how the bucs have to fudge numbers to cover up how they dont spend enough money on putting a winning team on the field!
.Once again Mark Dominik is making moves to help the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the future. It was just announced that he has restructured the deals of Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks to shift money to hit on this year’s cap.
This will free up about $18 Million in cap space for the 2013 season, leaving the Buccaneers with $98 million of designated cap space on the books for next year. There is a good chance that even more money could be cleared if they choose to renegotiate Eric Wright’s deal, as his suspension voided out the commitment for $7.5 million next year.
While I think the Bucs will keep Wright on the roster with the problems they’ve had at corner, Dominik will most likely make it a more cap friendly contract. How Wright plays in this final game will be a big part into what the Buccaneers want to do with him.
Another player that could be restructured is Quincy Black. His contract is now not guaranteed, and while he was playing the best football of his career before the tragic neck injury, $6 million dollars a year for a two down linebacker is just too much.
When the offseason comes I think the first thing that gets done is the resigning of Michael Bennett. He is playing on a restricted free agent tender this year and the Buccaneers best pass rusher. While he disappears at times rushing the passer he is one of the best in the league at stopping the run. You just don’t let pass rushers entering their prime hit the free agent market.
Two other players the Buccaneers could resign this year are Josh Freeman and Mike Williams. Freeman has come under a lot of scrutiny the past couple weeks, but Dominik could get him extended for less than elite money with performance escalators. Williams has well exceeded his rookie contract and getting him locked up should be a no brainer.
With all those moves and money set aside for the new rookie salaries, the Buccaneers could still once again be big players in free agency. Expect them to look hard for another cornerback, both Mike Jenkins and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie contracts are expiring and are two players the Buccaneers were rumored to like during that 2008 draft when they selected Aqib Talib with the twentieth pick that year.
Aside from cornerback the Buccaneers could use a tight end to really open the offense up. Dallas Clark has been alright, but was never known as a run blocker. Martellus Bennett would be a nice addition and the perk of playing with his brother could make him very attainable. If Bennett isn’t the guy they look at Jermichael Finley and Jared Cook would be other great options.
Defensively they might look to add an established pass rusher and Cliff Avril would make a ton of sense here. He wants big money but has the production to back it up. He’s unlike any pass rusher the Buccaneers have, and signing him with a cornerback would leave the Bucs the option to draft the best player available when their pick comes up in April.
It looks like this might be a make or break year for Dominik to get the right players to make the playoffs in 2013. He is at least already taken action to be prepared for the coming offseason.
