Seems Like I Was Right All Along...

I started three threads on the topic of exploring the option of trading Demarcus Ware months ago. I was laughed at, called a fool and an idiot and had my threads locked for no reason time and time again. My rationale of trading Ware (even though he is great statistically) for a higher impact player/draft picks based on the needs of the team in the longterm was shot down by most of you guys because he is a "Cowboys All Time Great."

Well, Ware dropped off and declined finishing this year with 11.5 sacks (ranked #11 in the league) and clearly showed last night why he is a liability in run support getting embarrassed time and time again being out of position. His disappearing act at the end of big games and critical offsides penalties throughout the year are definitely getting old. Not saying that Ware was the cause of the loss last night, but he sure did contribute to it. The skins purposely ran to his side last night time and time again.

Jerry Jones can continue to hold onto his "stars" (some who are overpaid-Ware, Witten, Romo, Austin) and cart them out there every year and continue to accept mediocrity (and it seems that some of you guys are happy with that). Or he can bring in someone to make real football decisions and clean house by bringing in some young hungry blue collar guys who wants to play sound fundamental football. The current crew of players is not working and has not worked for the past few years. Why continue to hang on to them, screwing your franchise by letting them get older, decline and continue to get paid? Now these guys are just getting older and more injury prone (Witten, Austin,Ware).

And the first football decision to be made in my eyes is trading Demarcus Ware for first round draft picks.

I love Ware I gota sorta agree. HIs trade would free up alot of money in c ap space. What could we get for him...I say a lower 1st round pick say 17-32 range.....and either a 3 or 4 or and pick in 2014 draft....

There are other player we need to trade.

    1. Miles Austin (has big contract)
    2. Ratliff (His age and injuries would make it hard)
    3. Free ( impossible due to his contract)

Is it out of the realm of possibility to think about trading Ware? Not at all

Do you trade him because you believe he's fallen off? No because the facts don't show anything of the sort. I've been over this subject God knows how many times and have given the facts in a similar thread about Ware.

Everyone has some blame to accept, some more than others, but Ware is one of if not the best OLB in football. His performance might not be on par with previous performances, but expecting him to have the same production if not better each year is a stretch. Factor in poor performances across the board by everyone and each players end of the year stats will be slightly skewed.

I agree with the 1st half of the 2nd to last paragraph, but who's to assume that Demarcus Ware would yield 1st round draft picks?

Remember if the Cowboys go into fire sale mode their leverage declines which means they won't yield as much as you think, not to mention cap penalties from certain trades.

I'm not overly pleased with his season but he still is top 5 at his position and you always get terrible value trading non QB's in the NFL.

    We'd get like maybe a 2nd and 3rd if wer'e lucky a late 1st.

How does that benefit us at all.

Didn't he basically play the last 4 or 5 games with one arm?

I am not ready to trade him just yet

    Yes Fred,

I know the sentimental value is there. But in the long term for the future of the team why not start cleaning house now and getting something in return?

The rest of the Dline sucks, essentially...DWare is the one bright spot on there...we all complain about the lack of pass rush, but you take away the one threat and then we are gonna get whooped on...

...and, this isn't sentiment talking, it is reality...I have a feeling that Ratliff will be gone (based in part on the blow-up with JJ)...so, unless they do something dynamic on the DLine, then Ware must be there

We wouldn't get equal value for Ware. He basically played with multiple injuries this year. But watching this LSU game... One guy to keep an eye on in this draft is B. Mingo. Ware is 30 and Spencer is 29, so I wouldn't mind drafting a pass-rusher to pair with Ware and Spencer.

Ware is the type of player that will retire a cowboy enough said he's given us too much just to trade him off like that unless it was to a Super Bowl contender so he can get a ring since there's really no chance of that happening here in the next few years

its out of the realm of possibility, IMO. not because he is sooo good we shouldnt trade him. not because nobody would want him...

the cap hit would be enourmous, and im fairly confident we would be in cap hell if we traded him...

remember, all the gaurenteed money he is owed, goes onto the cap this year if he is traded... it does not get spread out over the life of the deal anymore, all of it advances to this year...

Primetime, cHi8DaL5LA420 I miss you guys.

What a ****ing stupid idea. The guy played with 1 arm for half the ****ing season. By all accounts he should have been on the IR weeks ago. The guy gutted it out tremendously for that team, and to talk about trading one of the best 5-10 defensive players in all of football is just flat out stupid.

If we were lucky and traded Ware for a late first round pick wouldn't we have to draft somebody to replace him? How does that make this team better? We would have an extra first round pick but another whole to fill.
    Now is not the time

Dumb idea. What do we have left if some team offers Spencer a stupid contract and he walks? No Spencer and no Ware.......

I also mentioned we should trade him now because his play is going down hill. Before the injury he was not impressive in the pass rush and thats really the only thing he can do
Time to get swole baby ooooo yea back in the gym
