When Homer Bailey and Jay Bruce were our "top prospects" most people didn't know much about Votto...but I think if you asked Louisville Riverbats who their MVP was? They'd say Votto.

I agree. I watched one Louisville Riverbats game and it was obvious to me. Votto was actually hitting 5th in the order that day behind Jay Bruce (3rd) and Jorge Cantu (4th). There was a noticeable difference in his approach at the plate compared to everyone else on the team, including Cantu who had big league experience.
