Thread: Tyson Chandler

    Tyson Chandler

I read thousands of threads that talk about Amare and trading him or he should come off the bench. IMO I feel chandler should come off the bench. People say Chandler is so great defensively his average career blocks is 1.3 and he was heavily exposed last night when chicago closed the paint, without him catching an alley he is useless offensively. And as a center who leaves the paint wide open I really don't understand whats the hype about his defense. I am in no way saying Amare is better Defensively but at least Amare can hit an open Jumper. You know why Chicago does better against the Knicks its simple because they stay close on shooters because if they get beat they know Mr. Noah will protect the paint. Can't say the same for Mr. Chandler who let Jeremy Lin have a field day with lay-ups. now Amare averages 1.4 blocks, can hit an open jumper, and has a little low post game that we got glimpse of in the preseason. Now I know I am going to get bashed because some of you want to trade Amare for Mcnuggets and a large fry but have you noticed how many good passes he never expects or drops. Do you notice if he is in the paint he can't finish a layup without looking nervous? just saying

Call me crazy, but I actually agree with this. Melo at the 4 and Amare at the 5 would be impossible for other teams to stop. Amare is quicker than any other center on the offensive side, especially if he has developed a post game with some of those Dream Shake moves. And we already know what Melo does at the 4. The only problem is Amare at the 5 would be a defensive nightmare unless he seriously makes some changes in his game on the D.

No, but he has a point. When the Knicks are playing a dominant defensive center, all he has to do is clog the paint. He can get in the way of the penetrators, Melo, Felton, Smith, etc. and their men can stay on the perimeter to contest the 3's. But if you have a center that is a threat from 15 feet and who can post you up, that causes the center to leave the paint to worry about his man while opening up the lane for the penetrators and causing their man to drop off to prevent penetration, thus the open 3. IMO Amare's defense is much more fixable than Chandler's offense.

Well as long as you're on your high horse, mind telling me how we beat teams who have a physical center who clogs the paint because Chandler's offense outside of 10 feet is so inept?

Chicago clearly scouted Tyson and his swat the rebound to a teammate routine. I wish, for once, that Tyson would grab the rebound...realize he's 5 feet away from the basket and score.

If you put Tyson on the bench we lose our most efficient scoring options, tip backs, and have a horrific rebounding front court of Brewer/Melo/STAT

Our starting 5 is fine, we just need Shumpert back to replace Brewer since he is officially back to Fields offense mode.

And the reasoning for starting Amar'e is actually the reason why he needs to come off the bench. That makes our 2nd unit lethal.

Things would be a lot easier if Chandler developed something of a jumpshot. I mean if Noah was able to, why can't Chandler? Noah was as inept from 15 feet, if not more inept than Chandler was going back just 2 years ago.

Things would be easier if Brewer had a jumpshot, Melo had Durant's length and Felton was actually efficient.
They are what they are. What he lacks in offensive movesets and rebounding he makes up for with high efficiency and tip backs. At least he's able to compensate for his flaws unlike Amar'e.

I would love to get Millsap on the Knicks.

I think the knicks need to thinking about covering liabilities on the court. Kidd Brewer and Chandler can't score unless another teammate does the lifting for them. Maybe we should sit Kid and Brewer to start games???

Your idea is just not smart basketball. Tyson is getting better ...he has improved his FTs ...he wiill get better offensively he just have to slow down and take his shots with confidence.

Tyson is the best Center in the east...he does not come off the bench.

He sure proved it last night. I'll believe it when I see it as far as Chandler getting better offensively. The Knicks need it, because last night the Knicks showed they are very vulnerable against a physically defensive center, who can just shut down lanes because his man is no threat from outside of 10 feet.

I love the put back dunks and the second chance points thats fine but what I can't stand and other players on the Knicks hate it also is when the faster guard beats them chandler who is right there will let them have an easy layup. Maybe its because I am old school and remember the Oakly, LJ days. where you knew if you came in the paint you had to work for it. Jeremy Lin went off against us in the paint. People say Chandler is a great center which is the wrong word. I may get stoned for this but I would take Mcgee over Chandler
