Would be very happy to get Trey Ball. A towering lefty power pitcher would be great to add to the prospect pool.

Kid sounds a bit like Adam Loewen back in the day. I'd be down. Sign him, and in typical AA fashion let the kid play both positions or something haha. He took a chance with Alford pulling a Bo Jackson (Football and baseball). If he were selected by he Jays as a SP, we might as well see if the kid can hit a bit as a DH on some of his off days. There is a good chance his innings would be limited early on anyways with the piggy-backing format the Jays seem to like.

    Start
    Day off
    DH
    DH (Throw a side session?)
    Day off

    Repeat.

In the right environment he might dictate which way he should go by actually performing in the minors as both a hitter and pitcher. Generally the big lefty is a pitcher, but if his bat is really that good, I think you owe it to your organization and to the kid to look at him as either.

I wish we can get Austin Wilson, looks like a mini Stanton to me with his bat.

I really like the look of Colin Moran, assuming he can stay at 3B. If if has to slide over to 1B then maybe not worth a #10 pick.

Ideally Kris Bryant would fall to #10 but I just don't see it unfortunately.

It's early, but i like the videos i've seen of Reese McGuire. He's listed as a catcher, but has the athleticism and arm strength to play right field. Massive left handed power.

Didn't Houston pass on Appel first overall in 2012? Would seem somewhat odd to see them take him with that same position in the draft in 2013.

I've been on the Austin Wilson bandwagon since the first time he was drafted. I want him even more this time around. Give me that ****ing outfielder.

I'm not familiar with new rules. Why doesn't Texas get LAA pick and Tampa get Braves pick as compensation?

According to the new rules, the signing teams fore-fit their 1st round pick if its not top 10 (top 10 are protected, those teams would fore-fit their 2nd round pick), and the signing player's old team gets a compensatory pick at the end of the 1st round (sandwich round), but they do not actually get the other teams pick.

Just because they passed on him last year doesn't mean they will automatically pass on him again. If you had him rated as the second player on your board last year and went with the top player then you follow how your board falls this year also. Also he loses some of his "leverage" of being able to return to school. I highly doubt he would risk sitting out another year of pro ball just because he doesn't get drafted by the team he wants. This mock draft i really tried to stick to best player available now as we get closer to the draft I think it will tell will the Astros go best player available or draft someone who will sign below slot to give them more money to sign better players in the later rounds.
