Worked as a Field guard when Freel was with the team... Extremely saddened by this news... Limited interactions were always pleasant- wife was (is) amazing as well...
Nope
Terrible news.
RIP.
Kiss your mom 'night for him.
Terrible tragedy. Sucks that stuff like this happens when it's avoidable with the right help.
As a NL Central fan I can appreciate Freel's contributions even though his numbers may not be eye popping to a casual look.
Rip
wow my gawwwd yes. so preventable. very sad.
So sad. Really makes you wonder what this guy had going on within himself to take such an extreme method to escape it, especially having a family. Heartbreaking.

Not going to lie. I disliked him heavily as a player. Seemed like a passionate dude, though.
Shame.
Wow. Sad news right there....RIP.

Damn this is too bad. RIP Ryan Freel. Wishing his family strength through this difficult time.
Sad to hear something like this around the holidays. I met him after a game in Milwaukee in 2009, got his autograph. Nice guy. R.I.P Ryan Freel
"Baby, it wasn't the Cubs fault when that douche bag grabbed the foul ball either, but they don't get a World Series ring. There are no asterisks in this life, only scoreboards."- Ari Gold
Some people are just supposed to suffer. That's why the Cubs will never win the damn series.
Freel was a weird dude. I remember reading an article on him back in the day and it talked about how he had an imaginary friend that he always talked too. It was really odd. Guy had a few screws loose it seems.
RIP.
