Really have to appreciate that '03 Braves offense. Scored 907 runs (over 200 more runs than the 2012 Braves).

    http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/ATL/2003.shtml

    Lopez 1.065 OPS
    Sheffield 1.023 OPS
    Jones .920 OPS
    Giles .917 OPS

Oh and Andruw had 36 HR-116 RBI.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) is on track to begin throwing from a mound at the beginning of spring training.

Beachy is seven months removed from Tommy John surgery and is hoping to rejoin the Braves' rotation by mid-June. The 25-year-old right-hander posted a 2.00 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 81 innings last season and should provide a big boost when he's ready to roll. Julio Teheran is the top candidate to hold down a rotation spot until Beachy is healthy.

When Beachy is back our SP is going to be excellent. There's potential for top 6-7 here with a healthy Beachy

Going into the offseason, I was hoping for a possible Josh Willingham trade and signing Shane Victorino... And Wren pulls both Uptons. Quite impressive. Liberty Media allowing Wren to increase the payroll to $98 MM is another encouraging sign. It's impossible to know whether the Upton's reach their potential in Atlanta, but I certainly hope the local fans of Atlanta turn out in unprecedented fashion this year at Turner! It would be nice to see 35,000+ tomahawks chopping for all 81 home games!

Home field avg of 40,000 doesn't seem out of reach to me with this kind of lineup....

I expect an increase, but 40,000 a night is asking a lot. Only six teams averaged 40K last season, and the Braves were in the middle of the pack (29,878 per game). This level of excitement hasn't been there in years, but people still whine about the hassle of getting to Turner Field and the renovation projects for the surrounding area aren't even off the ground yet.

The last time the Braves finished in the Top 10 in attendance was 2003, but the last time they averaged 40,000+ at home was back in 1999. It certainly helps to add two well-known Black players, in a city where people of color make up about 60% of the population inside I-285. But the Braves have screwed up golden opportunities for marketing to all demographics in the past, so we'll just have to see how they handle this culture change.
