Pittsburgh Steelers Official 2013 Offseason Thread

After this disgusting, bitter tasting end of our season lets talk about what needs done in the offseason so we never have to experience this again.

    My suggestions are as follows:

    Coaching Moves:
    1. If Todd Haley is hired as the HC for Arizona (rumor is he will be) The Steelers should bring back Whisenhunt.

    2. If Lebeau is to retire I would say our 3 best D-Coordinator options are as follows: Keith Butler, Rex Ryan (believe he will be fired would be a real nice pickup), Raheem Morris

    3. Assign someone to be an Asst Head Coach to keep Tomlin level headed and to handle all time management duties. Oversee the gameday sideline operation.

    Roster Moves:
    Find a backup QB.

    Will add more later.

Keith is best suited to step in. He's been waiting on this gig for a long time.

I'd be in favor of bringing back Whiz.

And most of all, Tomlin needs to get at least a warning.

Bring in a veteran and starting calibre WR. Also signing a proven O-Lineman would make me happy instead of wasting a pick on one.

If Haley does indeed leave, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kirby Wilson promoted. He was Tomlin's first choice before he got into that accident. I always thought that Haley was more of a stopgap than a long-term answer at OC, given his name recognition. He's always going to be in discussion to be a HC somewhere, it's only a matter of time really so we'll see.

What Tomlin thinks should not matter. Im a little tired of him. We need to do whats best for the team, not Tomlins interests.

Sorry, didn't see your response until now. Anyways, like it or not, Tomlin is going to have a say in who we hire. Given that he heads the team, I think he knows what the team needs.

and i thought we should punt the ball rather then attempt the longest field goal in the history of Heinz Field with our season on the line after just witnessing our opponents basically hand us the game from doing so.... not to mention when your kicker is Suisham, who is notorious around the league known to be an accuracy kicker, not power. and he chokes under pressure. Anyone who understands the game knows he was not going to make that kick. But Tomlin sends him out there, and here we are posting in an offseason thread. Or when i was praying we would just run the clock out and avoid a late game turnover to give them a chance on our side of he field... You cant move the ball 60 yards down the field when the D is in prevent in under a minute.. why try? Only bad things will happen.

Do the Steelers listen to my advice when I'm right and there wrong?

I trust Colbert more so then Tomlin on personnel decisions

Tomlin liked Bruce Arians and i will never forget when he was more in favor of Jonathan Scott and Trai Essex over Max Starks till management had to intervene... that was ridiculous. To ensure a checks and balances i want Colbert making the final decisions.

So your argument is that Tomlin has made bad decisions in the past (decisions in which you apparently were correctly, I'll take your word for it) so Tomlin is clearly not suited to make any decisions? That's absurd. Beyond absurd, actually. As ring so eloquently stated earlier, Tomlin has done great things here (SHOCKER!!!!!) I won't repeat what ring said, but it's suffice to say that Tomlin has earned his place among the very best head coaches in the NFL. Sure ownership may express a desire to move a certain direction (as they did last offseason with the firing of Arians.) However, if we're going to be any attention to history, our ownership likes to keep hands-off from the day-to-day operations of this team. Who does that leave to make decisions? Those who are employed to make the decisions, Colbert, Tomlin, and company. Whether you like Tomlin or not is completely irrelevant. What you think Tomlin should have done during the season is completely irrelevant. He's the head coach. No matter what team you follow, the head coach will have a say it what happens. He will work in conjunction with Colbert and others in management to make decision. However to say that because Tomlin has views different from us on a form, and thus should not be trusted to make decisions is absolutely 100% ridiculous.

Mike Munchak is getting fired in TN. Wouldnt mind to see him coach our oline. Has a ton of experience and Kugler is leaving.

not like the Steelers to make splashy moves but i wouldnt mind someone who was arguably the top oline coach in the league prior to his promotion to head coach come in and help keep the unit flowing.

i do like bringing in head coaches who are fired as coordinators.
