Will the Jets address the running back position?

The Jets need to address their entire offense.

But Rex seems set on the 'ground and pound' philosophy and Shonn Greene/Bilal Powell are average at best.

I believe as much as they need to address QB/WR, they need a running back badly that will actually be able to average more than 3.9-4.1 yards a carry.

Ground and Pound will be more effective with a dominant running back, not what we have now.

It's pathetic that the Jets could have gotten Doug Martin or David Wilson and probably didn't even think about it, because all Rex loves is drafting defensive players.

How many times do you have to make the same thread? We get it. You don't like Greene or any of our backs.

    Mostlikely

We'll take a RB late in the draft and he'll challange powell and mcknight for the 3rd RB spot and he will end up on the practice squad. When we block we run well. We have more glairing needs, like

    O-Line (L guard, R guard, Right Tackle)
Wr (we need someone who can get open oposite santanio next year)
    QB- Yup
Outside line backers - Youth who can play vs run and rush, not situational guys.
Then you can put RB depth on the same lvl as - D-line depth, ILB depth, Secondary Depth...

IMO it's just not as much of a need as other positions, and won't be able to be addressed via free agency, and we have more pressing needs via draft.

Look for a RB no earlier then round 4, or some scrub via free agency.
Thanks for the sig Jzelenda! http://vaedur.com

If Rex were able to open up the playbook he would. Even stubborn Rex knows an offense needs to be balanced.

The problem is bad QB play has forced the Jets to play ultra conservative on offense.

Once the Jets find an adequate QB you will see the Jets offense start to balance out.

If we had a QB/Wr combo that could beat 1 v1's you would see Green's numbers go up.

Jets dont trust Sanchez to throw more than 15 yds down field and Mcelroy prob doesnt have the arm.

We need a RB who can run a sub 4.65 40, because that's what we have now with Greene/Powell. Greene might be in the 4.75 range at this point. We need an explosive runner who can do more than just run into the line for 0-7 yards.

I don't know, Greene has looked awfully explosive recently. He seems to get stronger as the season wears on.

Remember Shonn Greene is in a contract year, and will be a FA.

Hopefully the Jets bring in a new running back. The ones we have now are average at best. If the Jets want a speed back, I like Ray Graham out of Pitt. He runs similar to Lesean McCoy. If the Jets want a power back, I would take a flier on Marcus Lattimore from South Carolina late in the draft. He probably won't be able to play next year, but when he was healthy, he was the best back in the SEC and one of the best in the country. If Lattimore was drafted, I would sign a FA stop gap at RB to work in tandem with Powell.

None of us know who's going to be OC next year. Until we know this and what his preference in a RB is, this is blind speculation.
