    So long Swish...

    via RAB

If you were holding out hope the Yankees would swoop in and unexpectedly re-sign Nick Swisher, you can forget about it now. Mark Feinsand reports the switch-hitter has agreed to a four-year, $56M deal with the Indians that includes a $14M vesting option for a fifth year.

Cleveland has a protected first round pick (#5 overall), but that doesn’t matter as far as the Yankees are concerned. They were going to receive the same supplemental first round pick no matter where he signed. The Tribe forfeits their second rounder instead. Swisher was easily one of Brian Cashman’s best pickups, a tremendously durable and productive outfielder who cost Wilson Betemit and two prospects whose names you don’t remember.
I wish him all the best.

I'll miss him. Rough end, but let's not forget about the good he did for us.
4/56 sounds like wayyyy too much for him at this point.

    It's actually 5/70.

For a 32 yr old average player.

    I'd rather have kept Choo.

Yeah I don't like that trade off if I'm an Indians fan.

I'm an Indians fan and I like it. It wasn't just switching Choo for Swisher. It was switching a Choo that was not going to re-sign for Bauer/Stubbs/Swisher and some bullpen help.

Nothing to complain about the Indians offseason so far from me.

If I were an Indians fan, I'd be excited too as nobody usually goes there. As a Yankee fan, the majority of us realize his act gets old, his stats are not reflective of his actual level of play and his playoffs were the worst in HISTORY.

He's a perfect player for an average team. He's an easily replaceable player for any contender.

How is this confirmed? Not ONE good team pursued him or made him an offer.

Well, if the Indians should make the playoffs, which I doubt, look for Swish to be swishless.

If the Indians do make the playoffs, they'll be thrilled.

You do know who's Choo agent is right? look it up. They are going to ask for more then what Swisher did, Indians were not going to sign Choo even if they kept him. Swisher is a much better run producer also. So yes I like the trade off.
For not honoring a sig bet I now own YEDB90

I checked the Indians forum. They have two replies and no new thread regarding swisher.
