When we beat GS earlier this year, for our second win in six games, that win looked pretty easy. But GS has proven to be a better team than anyone thought. They play hard and they win two thirds of their games.

Of particular interest to me will be the fact that GS played last night against the B'ats. Will they get tired toward the end of a back-to-back game, or are they young enough and motivated enough to hang with LA for four quarters?

As Dave McMenamin writes, another thing to watch is whether spunky coach Mark Jackson goes Hack-a-Smaq on D12. That's been his tendency, but over the past few games Howard has seen a lift in his FT stats:

Since Howard bottomed out with that 9-for-21 showing against the Magic, the nine-year veteran has slowly but surely improved from the line. In his last nine games, Howard is shooting 48-for-80 from the foul line (60 percent), which is above both his season average of 50.6 percent as well as his 58.4 percent career mark. During that stretch, Howard went 6-for-8 from the line against Charlotte, 3-for-3 against Philadelphia, 4-for-6 against New York and 5-for-7 against Oklahoma City.

It's also worth noting that Howard's FT shooting is yet anther Laker issue that we're never going to trade our way out of. It's about one individual player shoring up a weakness in his game -- something that could be said about every player on the roster.
