Good post, but I believe Tanny needs to go. I agree with your assessment of the Jets roster, But that still does not excuse the decisions that Tanny has made.

Most Gm's would not have given Sanchez an extension. Take away the playoff's and what does Sanchez body of work show? Did other Gm's extend Tebow or Rex Grossman based on playoff records or results?

Tanny in his years has traded draft picks away like they were going out of style. Most pick ups have not panned out. Now the Jets are void of talent in key areas.

Was Tebow really a Woody pick? Most stories I read say it was a Tanny and Rex decision. Tanny and Rex hatched the idea of this unstoppable "wild cat" attack and sold Woody the idea. Woody loved it saw the buisness side of it and became obsessed.

Jets in the offseason had a chance to upgrade the Wr position. Knowing they had a bad QB why wasnt this adressed? If you know you have a limited QB why wouldnt you help that QB by getting him more weps? During the preseason the Jets and Sanchez struggled why did they stand pat? A GM should recognize the issues and pick up players to help.

Tanny needs to go and the Jets need to bring in a proven GM who knows talent. They need to remove Rex from any talent evaluation. Rex can be a good HC but he needs help. At this time Rex has far too much on his plate. A good GM can help Rex with that aspect.

The only way I see Tanny comming back is if Mcelroy is able to lead the Jets offense into the endzone. If The Mcelroy lead offense can score some points then the Tanny moves/non moves look a little better.

I have a feeling Mcelroy will do ok . Lets just hope the Jets havent given up.

With the exception of one poster in this forum, who thinks Tebow wasn't a Woody pick?

Everyone knew that the Broncos were planning to dump Tebow if they could get a suitable QB. The Jets signed Stanton on March 16 after kicking the tires on Manning. At that point, almost everyone knew that Manning was going to be a Bronco, and Tebow would be gone.

Why would Tanny have signed a legitimate backup just days before Manning was signed if he and Rex had their eyes on Tebow? He was clearly shoved down their froats, and Rex and Sparano have not been able to figure out what to do with him.

Aside from the timing of the Tebow deal, the way he has been used is proof of the fact that Rex certainly wanted no part of him.

Maybe the same reason they signed Holmes right before Brandon Marshall became available.
Maybe the same reason you get a rain check once your favorite electronic goes on sale days after you paid full price?
    Its called bad timing.

    Here is the story circulating.

“Rex [Ryan] and Tony [Sparano] had no idea how to use him,” the source said.

The Jets seem to have traded for Tebow without thinking it through. The story they tell is general manager Mike Tannenbaum and coach Rex Ryan came up with the idea over ice cream at Newark Airport. Two days later, Tebow was a Jet, costing the team a fourth-round draft pick and $2.5 million to the Broncos for money they had already paid Tebow.
Nine months later, the marriage has gone totally sour after the Jets humiliated Tebow this week by naming Greg McElroy the starting quarterback instead of Tebow after benching Mark Sanchez. Sources said Tebow was “fuming” when he found out Tuesday.

Look at the players getting paid the most money, you can easily say many of them are way overpayed. Cap specialist my *** he had put us in a terribly financial situation the past two seasons and currently we are stuck paying Sanchez, Holmes and Harris top dollar which they don't deserve. This guy sucks and is the reason why we suck.

Dude, you're seriously using a blogger website as your source? No, wait, a blogger website that looks like it's run by a bunch of college kids. That particular gem was written by a guy named "GatorChris." Yeah, he's not a flucking Tebow shill. Come on. You're smarter than that.

Rex and Tanny laughed about that "ice cream" story months ago. Rex even made a joke about his weight loss...something like "do I look like a guy who eats ice cream?"

What the **** are Rex and Tanny supposed to say? Do you really think either of them will admit that the guy who pushed Tebow on them is the same guy who denies that he loves headlines...and oh yeah, signs their paychecks?

They've been singing the company song all year because they have no choice.

The argument here isn't that its not Sanchez' fault. The argument is that other teams have invested top 10 picks on QBs and subsequently added weapons for them to develop with. The Jets added Santonio Holmes, added/lost Braylon Edwards and an old Plaxico Burress. I don't think Holmes is a bad WR, but realistically, on what other teams would he be the #1 wide receiver? This is a bigger problem at TE and RB. How many other TEs in the NFL are better targets than Keller? Now realize he's a liability as a blocker as well and where does he rank all around? I also don't think there's another team Shonn Greene would start on.

Again, this aside from Sanchez. I don't really care about the arguments for or against him anymore. He's shown the talent but he's mentally weak.
If you gave us last years Matt Moore, this would be a top 15 WR core with everyone healthy, I truly believe that. Maybe I am crazy, but if Hill and Kerley progress I firmly believe we have a top 15 receiving core.
Top 15 is just average, or above average. You have to be a top 12 team all around to even make the playoffs. We need legitimate I'm better than you advantages to win championships.

Well we will see what next year brings because as of right now we will have alot of new coaches and changes all over the board. Pettine is leaving,OLB's coach is leaving,Sparano will be fired,Sanchez might be traded,Tebow will be traded or released,Mike Westoff is retiring. Damn if your Woody Johnson you might as well fire Rex and Mr.T. Even though I don't want Rex fired it seems like the perfect time if your Woody,75% of the staff will be gone . They probably will end up firing the QB's coach to. I hope Rex survives this I really do because I want him to be the one to hoist the Lombardi trophy no one else

Figured you would say something to that effect. I just used the first of many websites that carry the story.

Makes sense to me that Rex Ryan would have wanted Tebow. I mean its not like he just witnessed Tebow end his Jets season.

Its not like Rex doesnt think he could fix anyone. In Rex's mind Tebow and the Wild Cat would be a perfect marriage to his ground and pound philosophy.

heres a couple links talking about how Rex and Tanny came up with the idea of getting Tebow.

You have Rex Ryan admitting it was his idea. You have Woody Johnson saying it wasnt his idea. What more do you want? A lie detector test? Truth serum? The lasso of truth?

Jets picking up Tebow just for pub is a little far fetched. Yeah im sure Woody saw the dollars in Tebow. But I could see Rex and Tanny also thinking the wildcat with sporano and Tebow could be special.

Rex skipped Tebow and went with Mcelroy. If this was a Woody move and Rex was so scared about a future paycheck wouldnt Tebow be the starter at home vs the chargers? I mean think of all the pub and cash that would generate.

The media wants everyone to believe this was a pub stunt by Woody.

I guess we will have to wait for Rex's next tell all book.

JF, you're a good poster, one whom I've never accused of wearing rose colored glasses, but this has to be one of the most inept non-JXD posts I've ever seen here. I'm not going to get into significant detail because I'm hungover, but the fact remains this guy spent two consecutive top 6 picks on complete and total busts (Gholston, Sanchez). That fact ALONE justifies axing Tannenbaum. Other stuff- like Holmes being a legit number 1 is ridiculous. Ducasse as a 2nd rounder, 1 offensive skill player drafted in the first two rounds since keller. He hired a totally inept offensive coordinator-someone who preaches running the ball (when they have, at absolute best, average running backs) in a league now defined by passing. The Tannenbaum era needs to end, its been a disgrace.
