    Well, I agree, partially.

    While Upton certainly has more upside and youth on his side, he'll likely command way more than Hughes + LHRP + prospect or filler...or whatever else has been proposed on here.

    I don't think any of us want to see Ca$htits give up the farm for Morse, but again, Upton will almost certainly require a better prospect package than MM.

    Based on the cost-cutting that's taken place this offseason and likely to trickle into next, we're unlikely to resign Hughes next year anyway, so we may as well trade him now and try to get some value for him while we can.

    Because Upton will require a much greater haul, and frankly Morse would provide more overall value to the lineup.

    @YankeesWFAN:

    Dr Kelly estimates 6-month return to playing for A-Rod (after ASB) "Would be great if he returns faster, its possible it could take longer."

    Morse is strongly opposed to being traded to a team where he would be primarily a DH.

    Although he can not block a trade.

    Why trade away a decent starter now? They are already committed to 2013 and trading Hughes weakens the rotation. Keep everybody and go for broke, then in 2014 start all over......

    Considering how the payroll will be tight, what is the sense of trading a guy who is one and done for another?

    Unless it makes us significantly better, I'd rather just sit tight with what we have. Unless said trade returns solid prospects, or even better, cheap but solid, unspectacular MLBers that fill holes now, and keep us from "needing" to go for the high end FA's..

    For the record, I just don't see why people love Upton so much. He's good, but he isn't all that. I'd take him, sure, but not at the likely asking price. Seems they have been "shopping" him forever, and there have been no takers yet. I'd say they are just not being realistic, so let's just stop talking about him..

    He really doesn't belong in the 2 spot. Strikes out way too much, better suited for the 5 or 6 spot where he can drive in more runs.
