Jesus Montero had 553 plate appearances and had only 29 walks. Was he trying to do too much or is he just another overrated former Yankee prospect?

His OBA was below .300 as well......OPS was .685

.260 15 62 are decent for a rookie but his 29 walks is my concern....

Again he was a rookie but still had only 20 doubles and 29 walks in over 550 plate appearances.

What may be a bigger concern are the significant platoon splits. Against LHP, Montero hit .322, but against RHP, he hit only .228. That's a huge difference.

Also, in games where Montero played C, he hit much better than in games where he played DH (.310 vs. .227). Given that he projects as a DH, that could also be something to keep an eye on.
