The biggest knock on cano is he looks lazy and doesn't run out ground balls. Well manny was lazy to but didn't stop his *** from winning 2 rings smashing the ball out of the park. Heck you can be lazy all you want just be in the top 5 in WAR and be a top 3 second basemen for the next 8 years and i'll be happy.

Look at Pedroia - 20 game missed last year, half the season missed in 2010. I'm sure some of that has to do with his all out style of play.

Often times guys who play the game "the way it should be played" destroy their bodies. When's the last time a player who was always diving, running hard, playing all out.... well when has one lasted into their mid 30s with no real decline. The guys who play at 110% beat their body up more than those who play at 80% most of the time.

your opinion on value means nothing i agree with you that they are overpaid however market value is still market value.
Taking in finacnial considerations neither pagan or victorino are viable options being that the primary goal is still under 189 or bust. Plus granderson will outproduce both players easily.

the 189 doesn't care about total money. It only cares about annual salary. So you can give guys 1 year deals from now until the end of time, but if you it adds up to more than 10 million a year, you aren't saving any money. And as you suggested, outfielders values are at a high right now. Also, Granderson did not outproduce Pagan.

I would put the odds that the Yankees will resign Cano at 90%. I just don't see them letting him walk. Truthfully I wish they would, NO PLAYER should get an 8 year deal at 31, especially for 20 million plus a season.

I wish the Yankees brass was a bit more forward thinking, it would be amazing to see him dealt mid season like the Red Sox did to Nomar in 04'. But I know it won't happen..

I see nothing special. His ceiling, IMO, is the Kevin Youkilis of today. But who knows.
