Derek Jeter Reaches out to Soto Family

Victoria Soto was the woman who hid her kids in bathrooms, closets, and cabinets and then told the psychopath they're in the gym. Her kids were left unharmed, but she was shot and killed.

Jeter reached out to her family after the funeral earlier this week and I just thought it was a great story to read. She will truly be remembered as a hero.

I read at least two different sources that said she died using her body as a shield to cover her kids up while the gunman shot them.

Very classy move from Jeter. Always happy to see stuff like this in times of despair. Well done, Derek

Agreed. It's amazing the people that we see step up during trying times. That woman is a hero. And it's great to see Jeter being a great guy. I honestly wish we heard more of the great things athletes do. It seems like often times the only stories focused on are the DUI charges and things of that nature.

From what I read, I think it was 6 kids that left their hiding places and she tried covering them but those kids along with her were all killed.

I love that he did this. I wonder how they could confirm it was him though. There's been no word from Jeter that it wasn't him but still, at the time, how do you know for sure.

Jeter probably consoled the family by telling them that if their daughter were still alive she'd have the honor of dating him.
