While I respect your opinion to not like him as an analyst, to call him dumb is simply ignorant.

Interested to hear people's thoughts on Sam Cosentino? Does he have a shot at this gig?

I really don't think Rogers have ANY good internal candidates right now. Cambell, Cosentino & Hayhurst have nerdy personas that just don't really seem entertaining. Wilner is an arrogant jerk and his particular flair with vocabulary feels really forced and lame. Shi Davidi is a robot and Gregg Zaun is a redneck.

I liked the guy from the Las Vegas 51s broadcast team who would occasionally join the Blue Jays crew in September after the PCL season had ended. I know the Blue Jays are not affiliated with the 51s anymore, but it doesn't really seem relevant. Someone who has a way of speaking casually while remaining interesting is a lot better than the current crop of Blue Jays analysts, reporters and broadcasters who try to hard and/or aren't particularly interesting.

Whomever they hire, they need to reserve a spot for Dickey when he retires. He's gonna make a terrific colour guy when he retires.

He can replace Gregg Zaun at the analysts table.

So according to sportsnet the Jays have reached out to Jack Morris. Anyone familiar with work on Minnesota games? He strikes me as a no non-sense kind of broadcaster who wouldn't hesitate to call players out on dumb plays. He could create an interesting dynamic with Jerry.

    Thoughts?

He'd be great. I'm sure many stations would be after him too.

From what I've read over at DJF, not many people are a big fan of Morris. He's supposedly pretty old school and fans who are into stats won't like him.

Is there a play by play guy out there who isn't old school? That isn't really the issue specifically.

No, old school as in dismissing statistics because they prove why he shouldn't be in the HOF.

Sam Consentino's background is more of a broadcaster rather than colour analyst.
