kids are kids. they see some big superstar athlete, they look up to them. i think its absurd for athletes to say there not role models.
they get paid millions of dollars. it goes with the territory. yes, i want to be my kids only role model. but when your on commercials, tv, cereal boxes, its hard to compete. athletes, no matter what we would like, kids look up to them. right or wrong.
of course we try and deter them from making bad choices, and doing things that they might do.. but still, if we can curb those behaviors, from athletes, it be alot better.
when athletes do those type of things, and cant stop, there not dependable. they are subject to being suspended. you want to smoke weed? go work somewhere else. you want to make millions playing football? dont smoke, stay out of trouble...
that easy.
poor choice of words on my part. I guess i just mean, i know its cool now days to wear baggy clothes. if someone wears baggy clothes i dont mind that, has long has he is a good person. ( i guess i mean, you stay out of trouble, do your job, give back to the community, your not a douch bag, meaning your nice to the fans, etc... i dont care if you wear your clothes 2 sizes to big... )
im more concerned with there attitude, there character, and there behavior.
i
I just look at weed as somehting like a cig, because I would rather somebody smoke the weed over the cigs anyday. I don't believe weed to be a gateway drug only for people in rich communites. I know plenty of people who smoke weed on a regular basis but have never tried herion or crack.
true kids will be kids but their first lessons are taught at home and for the most part not to many NFL athletes are commiting crimes like the guy from KC. I don't mind my kid acting like a thug on the football field, because I did it and can't tell them not to do stuff i did. I actually would encourage them to be dirty players, but they won't bring that thug crap to the community. If so take them up to the prison and let them see where thugs go and let them see first hand.
Time to get swole baby ooooo yea back in the gym
what does that mean? a thug on the field? you encourage your kids to play dirty?
what is the world coming to?
whats more important? your kid is a good person, or good football player?
is that really teaching them to be a good person? its ok to cheat, and break the rules?
could you elaborate?
and a guy smoking weed in the nfl is a moron.... really.
think of how much money they make. would you jepordize millions of dollars for some weed???!!!
im not debating wether weed is ok, or not. thats not the point...
lets just assume for argument sake, thats its harmless and great...
your making millions of dollars, and you risk all that for a little weed? does that make sense?
are they not morons for smoking?
if they told me, "rawz, we want you to be in the nfl. we will pay you millions, to play on tv, you will get millions more to be in commercials. but you cant get in trouble, and you cant drink milk. MILK. we will drug test you for milk. you do it, your suspended, your rep will be blasted, and you could lose it all."
its effin milk.. nothing wrong with milk right? right. but guess what. i wouldnt drink effin milk then. if i did, id be a moron. they tell you, before you sign your contract, before you get in the nfl. these are the rules. dont like it? dont play football for us. you just like the game? go play with friends for free then, and do what you want.
get what im saying?
Just an FYI but we went from talking about Claiborne to and ethics and legal based conversation. There is an off topic thread stickied for these types of discussions.
So you guys really think Janoris Jenkins is better than Claiborne?
One thing I love about Claiborne is that even without his contract signed he went to rookie camp. He also has dedicated himself to getting better and doing everything he can to improve, as well as getting/staying healthy so he can play, while also at times playing banged up. Kid has heart and K think it shows. I think he will show a lot of improvement this coming offseason.

I get what your saying and anything that messes with my money or me being able to provide for my family I wouldn't do. All i'm saying is that is a rule they should leave alone because it doesn't give an unfair on field performance. But the rules are rules I can't smoke a pound of the green trees at my job and I don't make close to millions.
Now when i say thug on the field i'm talking about somebody like Suh, thats how i want my kids to be. He is a dirty football player but he gives back almost more than anybody in the community and is a good person. If you on the ground in a pile I want them to punch people in the nuts or pinch them. My fist has touched more nuts than a pornstars mouth, because thats how we were taught and that toughness was the difference between state championships and not making the playoffs. Now I would make sure my kid understands that only doing that on the field is acceptable and he can't be a school punching people in the nuts in the lunch room. I believe you do what ever it takes to win

how has jenkins outperformed claiborne?
jenkins has been a headache at times for the rams. ( well, at least with his contract.)
in addition, jenkins is a character risk. claiborne is a high character guy.
claiborne loves the cowboys to... anyone who saw his reaction to getting drafted by the cowboys could see that...
i mean, truly loves us...
people are impatient. HE'S A ROOKIE. Today's society wants everything now. How many great athlete's had slow starts to their careers? The majority of the greats started slow.
People are judging a rookie career. In a few years when Claiborne emerges as the best corner in the 2012 draft i hope the naysayers can revisit this thread.
"No Idea Why Ines Sainz Was Her assed"
All of that has nothing to do with Jenkins out performing him on the football field. Jenkins has had 0 problems in the NFl and I believe Claiborne took a good while to get his deal done as well. Jenkins has shown 0 charcter problems since being kicked off UF football team 2 years ago

Jenkins may be having a good season and I'm happy for him but its hard to compare the 2 when they play under different schemes.
