The Bears can't afford to give up Melton for draft picks when he its one of our 2 or 3 best defensive players. Resign him and you have a rotation of him, Paea, Collins, Okoye and resign Izzy and he can help out on passing downs. I would also like to see Peppers create more match up hell on the inside.

I wont go that far. We really don't have anyone to replace him. We have him for what one more season? We can decide later. I think he could keep this up. In the past he was in position to make the interceptions and didn't make them but that's not the case this year. I guess we will have to see what he's asking for bur I don't think he can easily be replaced.

I'm sure you could say that for most DBs and not just him. It's hard for DB's to cover receivers for a long time. When you don't have a pass rush other parts of the team will suffer.

Yeah but when our pass rush was straight nasty this year is when he was able to jump on underthrown balls.

Melton is a very fine player. We can't over spend on him because we do need depth. In his 1st year here, Emery has shown that depth is one of his priorities for this time.

Melton: "there is not another better D-tackle in the league than myself"

I don't even know where this tagging jay stuff comes from. We have a whole offseason, a season and another offseason to get him a new contract.

Tag him or sign him, whatever you do, don't let him walk.

This team has way too many holes they need to fill. They can't go and create more holes by letting Melton go.
